One of this week's tabloids claims Ben Affleck wants to date Meghan Markle's friend Janina Gavankar, who's his co-star in the upcoming movie Torrance. Gossip Cop, however, already debunked rumors of the two getting cozy on set. We can once again set the record straight.
Earlier this week, Woman's Day Australia made up a story about Affleck getting "flirty" with Gavankar on the set of their new movie, in which she plays his ex-wife. The outlet contended that the actor was "smitten" with his co-star and was "going out of his way to impress her." The premise was based on claims from an anonymous "source," but Affleck's rep told us on the record that it was fabricated.
Unfortunately, In Touch has decided to keep the bogus narrative going. The unreliable magazine, however, is adding a new angle by noting that Gavankar happens to be one of Markle's closest friends. The two women met 15 years ago while they were both aspiring actresses, and Gavankar attended Markle's wedding to Prince Harry in May. Their dynamic inspired the tabloid to come up with the headline, "Ben Cozies Up To Meghan's BFF!"
An alleged insider tells the magazine, "Janina isn't just sexy, she's a good actress, no-nonsense and a hard worker — all qualities that Ben is attracted to. She's also a singer and performer and reminds him of [his former fiancee] Jennifer Lopez.... there's definitely chemistry there."
The outlet's supposed source adds, "As far as I know, [Gavankar's] not in a committed relationship right now, so dating Ben could be a real possibility. He's definitely interested. Pretty soon he could be double-dating with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex!"
Once again, Affleck's spokesperson already dismissed the romance rumors, and even joked that it "didn't take long" for the tabloids to come up with them. Here's what's really happening. The actor happens to be making a movie with an actress who happens to be friends with Markle. Sparks aren't flying on set and Affleck isn't on his way to hobnobbing with the royal family.
Meanwhile, In Touch has proven to have very little insight into the actor's personal life. In July, for example, Gossip Cop busted the magazine for wrongly reporting that Affleck was marrying Lindsay Shookus and starting a family with her. The actor and "Saturday Night Live" producer split the following month. This latest article trying to make a love connection between Affleck and Markle's friend is equally baseless.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
