Are Ben Affleck and Lindsay Shookus in a "trial marriage"? A new report claims the couple is not only contemplating marrying, but also "expecting" a child. Gossip Cop, however, can debunk both allegations.
The new issue of Star deems Affleck and Shookus "wombmates." Because she has been spotted coming and going from his Pacific Palisades home, the tabloid contends the actor is "making room in his spacious Batcave" for not just the "SNL" producer, but also for "perhaps a baby too." A so-called "spy" is quoted as saying, "The word is Lindsay may be expecting."
As proof, the magazine alleges Shookus had a "visible bump" when she recently wore a loose-fitting dress. But the phrasing of "the word is" indicates that the untraceable "spy" has no first-hand knowledge of this purported pregnancy, nor does the outlet itself have any direct confirmation.
Still, this supposed source claims to know that Affleck and Shookus are taking a "huge step" just by moving in together. "Ben hasn't lived with anyone since his divorce... Lindsay and Ben are looking at this as a sort of trial marriage," asserts the questionable "spy," who further alleges, "They've been talking about making it official, so this is a start."
Actually, Affleck and Shookus can't make any marriage between them official because he is still legally wed to Jennifer Garner. April marked the one-year anniversary of Affleck and Garner filing for divorce, but nothing has been finalized yet and their union has not been dissolved. And beyond the legalities, marriage is not on the table for Shookus and Affleck anyway. "Entertainment Tonight" reported just last week, "Ben isn't ready to propose and has no plans to get engaged anytime soon."
The reputable outlet also shared that, "At this point, Lindsay isn't moving into his new house full time." Notably, nothing was said about them having a child together. And that's because Shookus isn't "expecting," as wrongly alleged. Though the tabloid thinks she's sporting a "visible bump," it was clear the Emmy winner's stomach is flat when Shookus and Affleck went hiking last weekend. Additionally, during Shookus and Affleck's double date with her parents that same weekend, E! Online reported she was drinking wine.
Conclusion: Star claims Affleck and Shookus are living together in a "trial marriage," but a more credible publication has already explained that she doesn't stay there "full time," and he "isn't ready" to even get engaged. The tabloid also alleges Shookus is pregnant and has a noticeable belly, but photos of her from just days ago show her torso is fit and slim. It has also been reported she was drinking wine, which is a no-no for pregnant women, just last weekend. Through all of this, it's quite apparent this "wombmates" story is flat-out wrong.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
