Ben Affleck and Lindsay Shookus are not planning a "shotgun wedding" in Hawaii, despite a report falsely claiming the couple is getting married because she's "expecting." Gossip Cop can debunk the bogus premise. There's simply no truth to it.
According to RadarOnline, the "Saturday Night Live" producer is pregnant and planning to walk down the aisle with her boyfriend before the end of the summer. An alleged insider tells the blog that the pair chose Hawaii for their wedding because they "had great time there" earlier this year while he was filming the Netflix movie Triple Frontier. "Ben's talking luau, leis and Hawaiian shirts," adds the outlet's supposed source. "He's already asked Jen [Garner] to watch the kids while he's away."
A source close to Shookus, however, tells Gossip Cop on the condition of anonymity that the site's article is simply "not true." Just last month, "Entertainment Tonight" reported that Affleck "isn't ready to propose" to Shookus and "and has no plans to get engaged anytime soon." The reliable celebrity news show further noted that the couple's relationship is going strong, but the actor "wants to take things slow for the sake of his sobriety."
Additionally, Shookus was spotted drinking while on a double date with Affleck and her parents just two weeks ago. If the TV producer were actually expecting a baby, it's highly unlikely she'd be enjoying alcohol. Regardless, the two don't have a "shotgun wedding" in the works, let alone an impending engagement. It's also worth noting, Shookus is spending the summer in Los Angeles with Affleck, but they primarily live on different coasts and she'll have to move back to New York City when the new season of "SNL" begins this fall. Additionally, neither Affleck or Shookus have finalized their divorces from their respective exes, so they couldn't get legally married at this point anyway.
Gossip Cop frequently catches RadarOnline making up lies about the actor and producer's relationship. Last December, we called out the blog for falsely claiming that Affleck had dumped Shookus to try and win back Garner. That bogus premise obviously never panned out. In September of last year, the unreliable outlet also insisted that Shookus had a "baby bump." It's been more than nine months since that article was published and no baby has arrived.
It's abundantly clear that the blog has zero insight into Affleck and Shookus' personal life. This is made even more obvious by the site's habit of printing conflicting scenarios about their romance. Should there be any actual new developments in the couple's relationship, Gossip Cop will report it. For now, there's no engagement or baby on the horizon.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
