Is Ben Affleck searching for a role in a PG movie to win over his kids? That's the claim in one of the tabloids. Gossip Cop looked into the situation and we've learned the truth.
"Ben Goes PG" reads a headline in the latest issue of OK! The accompanying article claims the actor wants to star in a "family-friendly flick" that his three young kids will be able to see. The reason for this, alleges an "insider," is that Affleck "feels guilty about his poor behavior over the past few years and the way he treated their mom [Jennifer Garner]."
The outlet's questionable source continues, "He's searching for a role in a fun, PG movie in an attempt to make amends. He's desperate to be his kids' hero again and thinks this is a good start." The suspicious tipster concludes, "Ben's kids love old Disney movies like The Absent-Minded Professor, so he'd love to do a remake of one of those."
The main issue with the magazine's bogus article is that Affleck's relationship with his children and estranged wife isn't at all strained. Earlier this month, Affleck and Garner took their kids to see Hello, Dolly! on Broadway. People noted that the family "appeared to be really happy," while the exes were both "engaging with the kids" during the show.
The friendly exes have successfully co-parented their kids since their 2015 split. Garner even paid tribute to Affleck on Father's Day earlier this year, writing in an Instagram post, "Our kids are lucky to have a dad who looks at them the way you look at them and loves them the way you love them." Despite the breakup, Affleck and Garner are constantly spotted spending quality time with their three children.
Regardless, Gossip Cop checked in with a rep for Affleck, who confirms there's no truth to the tabloid's article. In fact, it was announced last month that Affleck is attached to star in The Has-Been, a drama in which he'll play a former basketball player struggling with addiction. Suffice to say, it's not a kids' movie. The actor is also currently circling the legal drama Witness for the Prosecution and a sequel to his R-rated action movie The Accountant.
It's clear that Affleck is a loving father who spends a ton of time with his children and their mom. The idea that he would need to make a PG movie in order to gain his kids' affection is simply absurd.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
