Ben Affleck is not "hitting on" Kate Beckinsale, despite a made-up tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct the claim. We're told it's completely untrue.

According to NW, however, the actor is crushing on his Pearl Harbor co-star 18 years after working together. A supposed source tells the outlet that Affleck reached out to the actress and "has been dropping some pretty heavy hints since she split with Pete Davidson. Ben's missing some fun in his life and reckons they'd both enjoy some no-strings fun, then see where it takes them."

The alleged insider adds, "They had a blast when they filmed together all those years ago and Ben could do with some laughter in his life at the moment. He's turning up the dial on his charm in a bid to land a date with Kate - and it's working!" The so-called "source" goes on to say that Beckinsale's friends "think she should totally go for it."

Meanwhile, Affleck is supposedly coming up with fun date ideas because he "doesn't want to take Kate on a boring dinner date," says the suspicious insider. "He knows she's game for anything goofy too, so he wants to come up with a plan she'll have a hard time saying no to."

The outlet's story is complete fiction. Gossip Cop checked in with an individual in Beckinsale's camp, who tells us the tabloid's article is "not at all true," further noting that she hasn't spoken to Affleck "in about 10 years." We're assured the actor hasn't been hitting on his former co-star or propositioning her for a date. The magazine decided to link the two stars because they're both currently single and once worked together.

Unfortunately, we're not surprised by the publication's phony story. NW doesn't exactly have the best track record when it comes to accurately reporting about the actor's love life. In April, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid for falsely claiming Affleck was having a baby with Lindsay Shookus. The pair split very shortly after we debunked the report.

In January, Gossip Cop called out the magazine for making up a story about Jennifer Lopez "dumping" Alex Rodriguez for Affleck. The singer and the former MLB star got engaged less than two months later. And last summer, we debunked the tabloid's report claiming Jennifer Garner was taking Affleck back for the sake of their kids. The exes finalized their divorce shortly after we corrected the article. This latest report involving Beckinsale is more nonsense.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
