Has Ben Affleck been sending flirty texts to Jodie Comer, his co-star in the upcoming movie The Last Duel? That's the false claim one of the tabloids is pushing. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
Comer, best known for her role on the BBC series Killing Eve, was recently cast alongside Affleck and Matt Damon in the upcoming revenge thriller The Last Duel. The film, which is set in the 14th century, centers on two knights who battle to the death. Woman's Day has decided to arbitrarily link Affleck and Comer simply because they'll be working together. Damon is married, otherwise he might have been chosen as the love interest instead.
An alleged insider says Affleck and Comer have struck up a "flirty friendship" as they prepare to shoot the action epic. "If you ask me, Ben's got his sights on more than just a working relationship," an anonymous insider tells the outlet. "Ben knew she would be perfect for the role he had in mind for her, but more than that, once he met her in person, he was captivated. He's been texting her for weeks now."
This same alleged source also claims to know how Comer feels about the actor. "Jodie's hoping it will turn into a date or two, so they can see how things would be between them once work is taken out of the equation," says the unknown tipster. This begs the question, who is this "insider" and how do they know the separate viewpoints of both Affleck and Comer? By the tabloid's own admission, the two stars hadn't met prior to signing on to the project.
While the magazine hides behind a seemingly imaginary "source," Gossip Cop ran the story by Affleck's spokesperson, who tells us on the record it's "not true." The actor's rep, who's qualified to speak on his behalf, confirms he hasn't been pursuing his future co-star. Of course, we're not surprised by the outlet's bogus story, considering Woman's Day has a laughably poor track record when it comes to reporting about the movie star.
Less than a month ago, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid for falsely claiming Affleck and Jennifer Garner were getting married again in Hawaii. This latest article makes no mention of the ex-spouses being back together, let alone tying the knot again. In reality, the actress has been dating businessman John Miller for more than a year.
Earlier in September, Gossip Cop called out the publication for making up a story about Affleck and Garner having a baby together to celebrate his sobriety. That phony scenario isn't mentioned in this latest piece either. Meanwhile, the outlet also has a habit of creating fake romances between the actor and his female co-stars. As recently as August, the magazine said Affleck was secretly dating Ana de Armas, his co-star in the upcoming thriller Deep Water. The inconsistency among the tabloid's reports is rather astounding.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
