One of this week's tabloids claims Ben Affleck wants Jennifer Lopez back but the singer wants nothing to do with him. The story is a complete fabrication. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
A headline in the latest issue of the National Enquirer reads, "J. Lo's Ben There, Done That!" The accompanying article says Affleck started reaching out to his ex-fiancee after he checked out of rehab in September, but she's never forgiven him following their 2004 split. "Ben's grasping at straws because Jen has never looked back since he left her," a so-called "source" tells the magazine. The alleged insider goes on to say that Lopez "has no room in her life for Ben," adding, "He's yesterday's news."
Of course, Lopez has been dating Alex Rodriguez for nearly two years, so the tabloid is essentially accusing Affleck of trying to break up a relationship, despite skirting around the issue. Regardless, Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the situation, who tells us on the condition of anonymity that the magazine's story is absurd. The actor simply hasn't been pursuing his ex-fiancee.
In fact, People magazine reported last month that the reason Affleck ended his fling with Playboy model Shauna Sexton is so he can "focus is on his sobriety, family and his next project." The actor isn't secretly trying to rekindle a romance with Lopez 14 years after their breakup.
It's possible the tabloid concocted this story because Lopez opened about her relationship with Affleck in an interview for the December issue of InStyle. The singer's comments made headlines, so perhaps the Enquirer wanted to capitalize on the fact that the exes' names are being mentioned together again. Regardless, Gossip Cop can confirm the outlet's storyline is made-up.
Meanwhile, the Enquirer has consistently proven to have little insight into the actor's personal life. Gossip Cop busted the tabloid is September for falsely claiming that Affleck would be marrying Sexton while still in rehab. The actor and model split less than two weeks later.
The tabloid doesn't seem to know much more about the actor's career. Earlier this year, Gossip Cop called out the magazine for wrongly reporting that Affleck was quitting Hollywood and moving to a farm in upstate New York. The actor is currently shooting a film, has several other projects in development and still lives in Los Angeles. This latest article involving Lopez is no more accurate.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
