One of this week's tabloids claims Ben Affleck is ignoring Jennifer Garner's supposed ultimatum to get sober or lose custody of their kids. The magazine further contends that the actor only went to rehab to reconnect with Playboy model Shauna Sexton. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk the ridiculous premise.
According to Woman's Day, Garner warned her estranged husband that if he doesn't remain in rehab for at least 30 days, she will file for full custody of their three children. The outlet goes on to say that the actor isn't concerned with her alleged demand, and is more focused on getting sober so he can continue his rumored romance with Sexton.
"No matter what threats Jennifer has made, Ben's not willing to give up Shauna," says a supposed source, who further claims that he's offered Sexton $450,000 a month to be his caretaker when he checks out of treatment. "He can't stand to be alone and has told her he doesn't care that she has no experience in working with addicts. He feels that just looking at her keeps him from drinking."
The alleged insider adds that Garner tried "calling Shauna and warning her off," but the model refused to stop seeing Affleck. "Jen apparently got her lawyers to offer her cold hard cash - a few hundred grand - to get her out of the picture, but even that didn't work," adds the questionable tipster. "Shauna just laughed."
Although it's true that Affleck has been spending time with Sexton during breaks from rehab, the idea that he's getting sober for her instead of his kids is completely false. Affleck's brother Casey told "Entertainment Tonight" over the weekend that the actor is getting help "for his kids' sake and for their mom, and for himself." Casey added, "He's trying to do the work and get it together."
Meanwhile, Affleck's mom has been staying with Garner and her grandkids while the actor continues to get help at a treatment facility in Malibu. It's hard to believe that Garner would turn to Affleck's mom for support if the actor cared more about Sexton than his family.
Additionally, Garner was the one who drove Affleck to rehab last month after staging an intervention. E! News even reported that the actor "asked her to take him and she wanted to be there for him." Affleck didn't ask Sexton to drive him to rehab, despite the magazine claiming he's preparing to pay the model nearly half a million dollars a month to be his "caretaker."
Regardless of this all being completely illogical, Gossip Cop checked in with a rep for Affleck, who confirms that the tabloid's storyline is "nonsense." Despite what an anonymous and untraceable "source" claims, the actor's spokesperson says on the record there's no truth to the report. Remember, Garner posted a tribute to Affleck on Instagram this past Father's Day, saying their kids "are lucky to have a dad who looks at them the way you look at them and loves them the way you love them." To say he's not concerned with getting sober for his children simply isn't true.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
