Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner‘s divorce is constantly the subject of phony tabloid stories. Gossip Cop frequently debunks false narratives about the exes. Here are five recent wrong rumors.
Last month, Gossip Cop busted NW for falsely claiming that Garner was leaning on Brad Pitt amid her ex-husband’s struggle with sobriety. The magazine contended that Garner was impressed by Pitt’s commitment to quitting alcohol and was using him as “her rock” following Affleck’s latest stint in rehab. The article was based on the false notion that the actress was dating the movie star, but that’s not the case. Reps for both stars assured us they weren’t a couple. In fact, just days after we corrected the story, the news emerged that Garner is dating CaliGroup CEO John Miller.
Gossip Cop also called out OK! last month for wrongly reporting that Affleck was moving back into Garner’s guesthouse after checking out of rehab. The actor’s rep, however, assured us the story was untrue. As time has shown, Affleck is living at his own home, which is located in the same neighborhood where his ex-wife and their children live. Reliable outlets such as “Entertainment Tonight” have noted that Affleck will continue getting treatment for addiction, including attending therapy and working with a sober coach. No reputable publication has made any mention of him moving back in with Garner, and that’s because it’s not happening.
In September, Woman’s Day falsely claimed that the real reason Affleck checked into rehab was so he could maintain his relationship with Playboy model Shauna Sexton. The outlet alleged that Garner had given her ex an ultimatum to get sober or lose custody of their kids, but he was really seeking treatment for the sake of his romance with the young model. The actor’s rep assured Gossip Cop the story was false, and shortly after checking out of rehab, Affleck ended his fling with Sexton to “focus is on his sobriety, family and his next project.”
Also in September, Gossip Cop debunked a RadarOnline story claiming Garner retreats to an “Oklahoma hideaway home” to escape the drama surrounding her ex-husband. Although it’s true that the actress purchased the farm where her mother grew up in Locust Grove, Oklahoma, her reason for doing so had nothing to do with Affleck. Garner uses the property to grow fruits and vegetables for her company Once Upon a Farm. Over the summer, Garner gave a tour of her farm to CBS News, along with her mom and uncle, explaining that she purchased the property because her family “has a connection to the land.” A rep qualified to speak on the actress’s behalf further told us she “does not live” on the farm.
And finally, Gossip Cop busted OK! in August for falsely claiming that Affleck and Garner were getting back together after he agreed to go to rehab. The tabloid said the actress was willing “to give their marriage another shot” if her ex sought treatment. The outlet further contended that she “promised him if he gets sober they’ll renew their vows.” Shortly after the bogus story was published, a Garner confidante assured us she wasn’t rekindling a romance with her ex. Last month, Affleck and Garner finalized their divorce, proving the outlet’s article to be complete fiction.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
