Ben Affleck is not constantly begging Jennifer Garner for money, despite a tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk the story. We're told there's no truth to it at all.
According to Star, the ex-spouses were spotted "fighting over finances" outside of a Los Angeles church last month. A supposed source tells the outlet, "Ben's constantly asking Jen for cash, which she thinks is ludicrous. He always needs a handout for parking, coffee, even the church contribution."
The alleged insider further contends that Affleck "rarely carries cash, and when he does, he burns through it right away." The seemingly made-manufactured tipster goes on to say that Garner is hesitant to give money to her ex-husband because "she's worried he'll use it to buy booze" given his history of alcohol addiction. "Sobriety has been difficult, but she finally told him, 'I'm not giving you any more money!'" adds the so-called "source."
The tabloid's story doesn't make a ton of sense. Affleck, who's estimated to have a net worth of around $130 million, isn't exactly hurting for money. Also, if the source spotted the two outside of church having an argument over money, how does that person know Affleck's "constantly asking Jen for cash" and "always needs a handout."
Still, Gossip Cop checked in with the movie star's spokesperson, who tells us on the record that the magazine's article is fabricated. Despite what the outlet's anonymous and seemingly nonexistent "source" claims, Affleck's rep assures us he's never asked Garner for money. Simply, his finances have not been an issue between them since their divorce.
Unfortunately, we're not surprised by the publication's phony story. Star has spent a lot of time peddling fiction about the exes. Back in March, Gossip Cop busted the magazine for falsely claiming Affleck had asked Garner to marry him again, and she was actually considering it. In reality, the ex-spouses have remained on good terms to co-parent their three kids, but they're not getting back together.
Back in November, the outlet wrongly reported that the reason Garner finalized her divorce from Affleck is so she could marry her new boyfriend, John Miller. As time has proven, the actress and the Cali Group CEO aren't even engaged. Also last year, Gossip Cop called out the magazine for publishing a ridiculous story about Garner and Affleck's ex-girlfriend Lindsay Shookus both expecting his babies. Neither woman was pregnant.
The untrustworthy tabloid has come up with a lot of different scenarios when it comes to the nature of Affleck and Garner's relationship. This latest angle about the actor begging his ex-wife for money is both bizarre and untrue. Considering how Affleck isn't strapped for cash, this is a non-issue.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
