Did Ben Affleck really ask Jennifer Garner to marry him again? That's the story in one of this week's tabloids. Gossip Cop can set the record straight.
According to Star, "sparks flew" between the ex-spouses when they reunited to attend a friend's wedding in Los Angeles last month. The magazine goes on to say that Garner is very impressed with the progress her ex-husband has made since checking out of rehab last October, to the point where she's considering giving their marriage another shot.
An alleged insider tells the outlet that a few days after their friend's wedding, Affleck "popped the question" to Garner during a stroll. "They were having such a wonderful day, laughing and joking together," adds the supposed source. "It seemed like old times. It spurred Ben to make a second proposal, 'Marry me again!'" The suspicious tipster continues, "She thought he was kidding at first, but he assured her he wasn't."
The seemingly phony source further contends that Garner is mulling over the proposal, but told Affleck "she'd have some demands for him" if they get married again, including staying off alcohol and continuing therapy. "He wants to marry Jen and stay married this time," adds the questionable insider. "Underneath it all, they really do still love each other. No one would be surprised if they gave it another go."
The outlet's bogus story is very poorly-timed. Earlier this week, the news emerged that Affleck is back together with ex-girlfriend Lindsay Shookus. The rekindled couple was spotted together in New York City several times over the past week. The "Saturday Night Live" producer even accompanied her boyfriend to the premiere of his new Netflix movie Triple Frontier. Meanwhile, Garner has been dating Cali Group CEO John Miller since last year. The two were spotted on a romantic date night last week, and many outlets have reported that their relationship is getting more serious.
Despite it being clear that the actress and her ex-husband have both moved on romantically, Gossip Cop still checked in with a source close to the situation, who confirms the tabloid's report is fabricated. Affleck and Garner have remained on good terms for the sake of their three kids, who they successfully co-parent. They're not getting married again and the actor never proposed to his ex-wife.
Additionally, Gossip Cop busted Star back in November for falsely claiming Garner was getting married to Miller after finalizing her divorce from Affleck. That obviously didn't happen. Last July, the tabloid made up an absurd story about Garner and Shookus both being pregnant with Affleck's babies. This latest article is more fiction from the unreliable outlet.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
