Is Ben Affleck "a wreck" over Jennifer Garner's romance with boyfriend John Miller? That's what one of the tabloids is claiming. Gossip Cop looked into the situation and we can set the record straight.
According to Star, the actor has been "down and out" ever since the news broke that his ex-wife had moved on with the Cali Group CEO. An alleged insider tells the outlet, "It seems like his mood is worsening by the day. Ben is struggling to be upbeat. There's no doubt he's fallen into a deep funk over the state of his personal life, and his friends are very worried about him."
The magazine's alleged insider further contends that Affleck has been "shutting himself off" from those around him, and pals "fear it won't be long before he spirals back out of control." The questionable tipster concludes, "All in all, he's a mess."
The tabloid's take on the situation simply isn't accurate. People magazine, a much more reliable outlet for celebrity news, recently published an article saying Affleck supports Garner's new relationship. "Ben will always want the best for Jen," writes the reliable publication. "They continue to have a really strong relationship and both work very hard to make everything easy for the kids."
Additionally, when the news broke two months ago that Garner had a new boyfriend, a source told E! News, "Ben is happy when Jen is happy. They have a really strong relationship. They will continue to co-parent and support each other." Gossip Cop also checked in with a mutual pal of ours and Affleck, who wasn't able to speak on the record, but assures us Star's article is bogus. The actor isn't having a breakdown because his ex-wife is dating someone new, and the claim otherwise is baseless.
Meanwhile, the magazine has already proven to have little insight into the actress's relationship with the businessman. A few weeks after Garner finalized her divorce from Affleck back in November, the outlet wrongly reported that the actress was rushing down the aisle with her new boyfriend. That clearly hasn't happened.
Last month, Gossip Cop busted the outlet's sister publication, OK!, for falsely claiming Garner was pregnant with Miller's baby. Interestingly enough, that article said Affleck was happy for his ex-wife and congratulated her on the supposed news. Nothing about the story was remotely true, but it shows how the tabloids and their related outlets have trouble keeping their stories straight.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
