Ben Affleck Jennifer Garner Divorce War May 2015

(National Enquirer)

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are NOT in a “$150 Million Divorce War,” despite a new tabloid cover story that claims the actor “stormed out” on his wife. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk the report, which follows several similarly false reports.

The National Enquirer claims in its new issue that Affleck “ditched his wedding ring,” as well as his family, “in a frenzied burst of anger” after an alleged fight with Garner in which she supposedly “accused him of cheating and falling off the wagon.” The magazine alleges Affleck then “fled to a Buddhist monastery” located on a “remote island” in Canada, where the Oscar winner attempted to “get his head straight.”

A so-called “source” tells the Enquirer that Affleck is having a “midlife crisis,” with his trip a supposed attempt to “figure out what he wants out of life, and find a path back to being a good husband.” The supermarket tabloid and its alleged tipsters go on to claim that Garner went to Canada “to convince him to return home,” and gave Affleck an “ultimatum,” in which he’d get “one more chance to clean up his act.”

The Enquirer claims that it’s all part of a “last-ditch effort to avoid divorce,” and fills out the rest of its article by regurgitating rumors about Affleck’s alleged issues with gambling and alcohol, as well as repeating made-up claims about him “two-timing” Garner with Anna Kendrick, his co-star in The Accountant. The magazine calls the alleged drama “a devastating blow to the A-list couple’s frayed marriage,” and writes that it “comes just weeks before what would be their 10th wedding anniversary, if they make it that far!”

Of course, variations of these allegations have all been spread by the rumor mill before, and that includes the Enquirer. The publication previously claimed Affleck and Garner were “headed for a $150 million divorce” in March, and also on the verge of a “$150 million divorce” last October. That was four years after the Enquirer alleged their marriage was “hanging by a thread.” All the while the stars remain happily together.

Nevertheless, Gossip Cop checked in with a rock-solid source, who has delivered accurate information to us countless times, and we were exclusively told that the latest claims are “all crap.” Perhaps it’s high time the Enquirer stops making up dollar figures about supposed celebrity divorces and instead puts some money towards paying better sources.
