One of this week's tabloids claims Ben Affleck has been "getting his flirt on" with co-star Janina Gavankar on the set of their new movie Torrance. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk the claim. We're told it's made-up.
Earlier this month, Affleck began filming the drama, in which he plays a former basketball star who loses his career and family amid his battle with addiction. Gavankar, best known for the Fox series "Sleepy Hollow" and the recent film Blindspotting, plays the ex-wife of Affleck's character. According to Woman's Day Australia, the two are slowly developing a romance on set.
An alleged insider tells the outlet, "Ben seems smitten and hangs off Janina's every word. He's going out of his way to impress her, and there's a lot of talk on set about their connection." The outlet goes on to say that Affleck and Gavankar were "snapped getting super-cozy" on set. However, the photo included in the magazine simply shows the two chatting in between takes. They also happen to be standing several feet apart in the image.
Regardless, the tabloid's story is based on claims from an anonymous and seemingly imaginary "source," but Gossip Cop checked in with Affleck's rep, who tells us on the record that it's fabricated. It's worth noting, Affleck split from Playboy model Shauna Sexton earlier this month following a brief fling. The actor, who called off their romance shortly after completing a 40-day stint in rehab, is focusing on his recovery.
People magazine, a much more reliable celebrity news outlet than Woman's Day, reported that Affleck "will date in the future, but for now his focus is on his sobriety, family and his next project." That project is Torrance, and he hasn't jumped into another romance during filming. Affleck's spokesperson confirms to Gossip Cop that he's not "getting cozy" with Gavankar, and even joked that it "didn't take long" for the tabloids to come up with the premise.
Meanwhile, Gossip Cop frequently busts Woman's Day for making up phony stories about the movie star's love life. Earlier this month, we called out the tabloid for falsely claiming that Affleck was dating "another mystery blonde" in addition to Sexton. The magazine's latest article makes no mention of what happened to the so-called "mystery blonde" he was supposedly dating a few weeks ago. That's because there was no truth to the article, and the same goes for this latest one.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
