Ben Affleck and girlfriend Lindsay Shookus are not "secretly engaged" and planning a wedding, despite a completely false tabloid report. Gossip Cop looked into the situation and we can exclusively set the record straight.
A so-called "insider" tells Life & Style, "Ben and Lindsay are completely in love and secretly got engaged last month. Only their very closest friends know. They're currently shopping for rings, but they agreed she won't wear one immediately so they can keep their engagement private. They want to show some respect for their families since it's all happened so fast."
Neither the actor or "Saturday Night Live" producer are actually divorced yet, but the outlet's questionable source says "both hope to have their divorces finalized in the next few months." The seemingly phony insider also purports to know details about the couple's supposed wedding, saying the ceremony will be "private, at a home and not a church, with only close friends and family," and will likely take place on the East Coast, where Shookus is based.
The magazine's questionable insider further contends that the "whole ordeal has been mortifying" for Affleck's estranged wife Jennifer Garner, who will "put on a brave front for her kids" and "act like it's no big deal, but will be very deeply hurt." According to the alleged insider, the actress realizes that "this is what Ben does. Instead of dealing with his issues, Ben just creates more chaos."
However, Life & Style has demonstrated in the past to know very little about the actor's personal life, so we were quick to question this latest report. Gossip Cop busted the magazine earlier this year for wrongly announcing Affleck and Garner were renewing their vows. Shortly before that fabrication, the unreliable tabloid claimed Affleck was getting back together with Jennifer Lopez.
It should be noted, People recently reported that Shookus helped Affleck go house hunting in Los Angeles, "but it was clear that they are not buying a house together." Despite the fact that the two aren't even living together, in addition to the tabloid's previous falsehoods, Gossip Cop still checked in with sources close to both of them. We were exclusively assured on background from each side that Affleck and Shookus are 100 percent not engaged. Tellingly, no legitimate outlets have reported about the actor popping the question to the "Saturday Night Live" producer.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
