Ben Affleck’s dating life is often the subject of false tabloid stories. Gossip Cop has debunked several bogus reports on the topic as of late. Here are five wrong rumors.

Gossip Cop busted the National Enquirer last November for making up a story about Affleck wanting Jennifer Lopez back. The magazine claimed the actor reached out to his ex-fiancée after checking out of rehab in September and attempted to win her back from Alex Rodriguez, but the singer denied his advances. The story was seemingly concocted simply because Lopez opened about her relationship with Affleck in an interview for the December issue of InStyle. Sources close to the situation assured us there was no truth to the report, which seemed to have been written simply because the exes’ names were being mentioned together again in the news.

Last October, Gossip Cop called out Woman’s Day Australia for falsely claiming Affleck wanted to date Meghan Markle’s friend, Janina Gavankar, who co-stars with the actor in the upcoming movie Torrance. The publication maintained that the two were “getting cozy” on set and Affleck looked forward to “double-dating” with Markle and Prince Harry. The ridiculous story was based on claims from an anonymous tipster, but the actor’s rep told us on the record that it was nonsense, and even joked it “didn’t take long” for a tabloid to come up with the premise.

Back in September, Gossip Cop debunked an Enquirer story about Affleck planning to marry Playboy model Shauna Sexton while in rehab. The actor and the model were having a brief fling around this time, but according to the outlet, he was “head over heels in love” and considered her “marriage material.” Of course, no wedding took place in the treatment facility. Shortly after checking out of rehab, Affleck ended his romance with Sexton to focus on his sobriety.

Shortly before that, Gossip Cop busted Woman’s Day for alleging that Affleck was dating “another mystery blonde” in addition to Sexton. The story emerged after an unidentified woman was seen entering the actor’s home in Los Angeles. Without any proof to back up its claim, the outlet insisted Affleck was in a relationship with the woman. The actor’s rep, however, explained to us that the “mystery blonde” was the girlfriend of a man who Affleck met in rehab. It was the man from the treatment facility who was visiting the actor’s home, and his girlfriend was simply accompanying him.

And finally, Gossip Cop called out the Globe last August for wrongly reporting that Jennifer Garner convinced Affleck to break up with his ex-girlfriend Lindsay Shookus. The tabloid claimed the actress believed the “Saturday Night Live” producer was a bad influence on her estranged husband amid his struggle to get sober, so she told him to dump her. In reality, Affleck and Shookus split because of his struggles with addiction. People magazine, a much more reliable source for celebrity news, noted at the time of the breakup that the producer had been “supporting Ben’s sobriety” but “decided it would be in Affleck’s best interest to end the relationship.”
