A tabloid claims Ben Affleck's friends want him to date a famous woman and have set their sights on both Charlize Theron and Halle Berry as prospects. The story is completely made-up. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
According to Life & Style, the actor's pals are eager to find him a "new leading lady" following his recent split from "Saturday Night Live" producer Lindsay Shookus. A supposed source tells the outlet, "Ben's always found Halle Berry attractive, but most of his friends think he should go for the gold: Charlize Theron. She's a great mom, and not to mention drop-dead gorgeous."
The alleged insider goes on to say that some of Affleck's other friends think he should steer clear of A-listers and instead pursue actress Janina Gavankar, with whom he co-stars in the upcoming movie Torrance. "She's an up-and-coming actress who's BFFs with Meghan Markle," adds the questionable tipster. "Plus, their chemistry is off the charts."
The tabloid's story is based on claims from an anonymous and seemingly imaginary "source," but Gossip Cop checked in with Affleck's spokesperson, who tells us on the record that it's fabricated. Despite what the magazine's untraceable "insider" claims, a rep qualified to speak on the actor's behalf assures us his friends aren't trying to find him a famous girlfriend.
It's worth noting, the outlet's article appears to be an amalgamation of stories we've already debunked. Back in 2015, Gossip Cop busted Life & Style's sister publication, OK!, for falsely claiming Affleck was "crushing on" Berry and planned to cast her in a movie so he could "woo her on set." Of course, the actress never co-starred in any of the actor's films and they never started dating.
In 2016, Gossip Cop shot down an OK! cover story about Affleck and Theron being in a "secret romance." The magazine claimed the two stars, who worked together on the 2000 movie Reindeer Games, got together after reconnecting at an Oscar party. As time has proven, that never happened.
And back in October, Gossip Cop debunked a bogus Woman's Day report about Affleck "getting flirty" with Gavankar on the set of Torrance. The magazine claimed the actor was going out of his way to "impress" his co-star and people on set were whispering about "their connection." That story, like the ones mentioned above, was a total work of fiction.
This latest phony article is now including all three women as possible candidates for Affleck to date. The narrative wasn't true when the actresses were chosen individually, and it's no more accurate now that they've all been lumped together.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
