Barbra Streisand is often the subject of false tabloid stories. Gossip Cop has debunked many bogus reports about the legendary singer as of late. Here are five recent wrong rumors.

Just last week, Gossip Cop busted the Globe for falsely claiming the singer was on the verge of death from a compulsive eating disorder. The baseless story was published simply because Streisand said in a recent interview with the Daily Mail, “I love food too much… I eat when I’m sad, I eat when I’m happy.” The outlet then quoted doctors who haven’t treated the singer about the dangers of overeating. These medical opinions had nothing to do with Streisand, and a source close to the singer assured us she’s in perfectly good health.

Last month, Gossip Cop called out the National Enquirer for wrongly reporting that Streisand and her husband James Brolin were on the brink of a $400 million divorce. The tabloid alleged that the singer was tired of her husband flirting with other women, while he was sick of her controlling attitude. But just weeks before the phony story was published, Brolin opened up about his long-lasting marriage to Streisand, explaining why their relationship has remained strong for more than 20 years. Over the summer, Streisand celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary with a sweet Instagram message to her husband.

Also last month, Gossip Cop debunked a ridiculous Star story about the singer suffering from dementia. The story emerged following Streisand’s appearance on James Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke,” during which she admitted to getting distracted while driving and failing a written test to renew her license three times. According to the outlet, the singer’s friends were horrified by her revelation and convinced that she’s in the early stages of dementia. The story was illogical. Although Streisand joked on the show about her poor driving skills, she had no issue remembering the lyrics to all of her songs and recalling various stories from her long career. Regardless, a source close to the singer assured us the article was baseless.

Gossip Cop busted the Globe in September for making up a story about Tom Cruise trying to recruit Streisand for Scientology. The outlet claimed that the movie star is “obsessed” with the iconic singer, even to the point of “crushing on her,” and was going all out to get her to join his controversial religion. A mutual pal of ours and Streisand assured us on background that Cruise never approached the singer about becoming a Scientologist. As time has shown, the singer isn’t involved in the religion.

And finally, Gossip Cop called out Naughty Gossip in June for falsely claiming that Streisand was trying to overshadow Lady Gaga’s remake of A Star Is Born. The story was concocted simply because the singer released a new edition of her original 1976 film on Netflix. The re-release debuted months before Gaga’s version hit theaters in October, so it’s not as if there was any competition between the two. Meanwhile, a few weeks before the bogus article was written, Streisand gave her nod of approval to the remake of A Star Is Born. The singer said in an interview, “What I saw of it was very good. It feels reminiscent of mine, but they added some new things which I liked, too. I’m sure it’ll work.”
