Azealia Banks is the latest celebrity to weigh in on Nicki Minaj’s drama with Taylor Swift and the MTV Video Music Awards. And not surprisingly, Banks isn’t exactly defending her rap rival.

As Gossip Cop reported, after the 2015 VMAs nominees were announced on Tuesday, Minaj ranted on Twitter about “Anaconda” not scoring a Video of the Year nomination. Many interpreted some of the tweets as shade against Taylor Swift, who received the most nominees, including the top category. Minaj has been arguing that her clip for “Anaconda” was worthwhile art, but Banks begs to differ.

On Wednesday night, she tweeted, “But all u did was show ur ass, an ass we’ve all seen plenty of times.” As Gossip Cop reported when the video was released, “Anaconda” features Minaj and a group of women showing off their derrieres.

But Banks’ beef isn’t just with Minaj. As Gossip Cop noted on Wednesday, she, too, slammed MTV after she was shut out of the nominations, writing, “All my videos deserve VMas and my album deserves a Grammy but I’ll never get one because America doesn’t like opinionated black women.” And her tweet about Minaj isn’t quite a show of support for Swift.

Banks’ follow-up messages addressed what she sees as the larger problem with the VMAs and the music industry. “I just think that EVERYONE in the Pop-sector gets away with being mediocre. So the awards shows just become a mediocrity contest,” she wrote. “Just because McDonald’s can sell a lot of food doesn’t mean the shit is gourmet.”

The rap star declared the “art world is f*cked,” and argued, “Pop-culture needs to be re-vamped. Just to make it enjoyable again. The chinks in its armor are too visible and no one believes the hype anymore.” She noted, however, “As much as I would love to be at the top of the pops, I’m not really willing to make the personal sacrifices one must make to get there.”

In a back-and-forth with followers, Banks went on to say that Minaj’s “Anaconda” is a “good video,” and said her fellow artist shouldn’t do things that are “beneath” her. ” “I think she’s talented enough and has worked hard enough to not play the game anymore. She doesn’t have to, she’s a brand,” wrote Banks.

As Gossip Cop previously reported, Banks complained about Minaj in May, after they were both nominated for Best Female Hip Hop Artist at the BET Awards. Banks called the ceremony “bogus” and a “running joke” because Minaj had won year after year. She went on to win again in June. Tell us what you think of Banks latest comments about Minaj below.
