Is Ariana Grande pregnant? A tabloid has put the singer, who is engaged to Pete Davidson, on "bump watch." But as Gossip Cop previously reported, Grande herself has already made clear that she is not having kids any time soon.
The misguided speculation comes from NW, which claims "buzz is brewing that the pop princess is expecting her first baby." That purported "buzz" is tied to Blind Gossip, which the tabloid points out recently did an item that claimed "a young celebrity couple have a sneaky bun in the oven." The post asserted in part, "This newest development is sure to sweeten up that gossip pot and make the gossip even more divine."
The magazine quotes that line, and contends "many commentators say [it] is a not-so-subtle nod to Ari, whose new album is titled Sweetener and features the track 'God Is A Woman.'" The outlet also argues that "a baby on the way would certainly explain the couple's whirlwind engagement. The publication also writes, "Adding further fuel to the fire, Ariana confessed on Twitter in June that she's a "fertile queen."
Yes, the pop star did make that comment in a hashtag, but the tabloid fails to tell readers the context in which it was made. She was actually shutting down pregnancy rumors, and telling fans that she won't be having children in the near future. After a fan mocked a rumor that she was pregnant by tweeting a photo of the former child star rolling her eyes, Grande replied on Twitter, "mood for the next few years til i'm actually ready #fertilequeen."
Then, when another fan suggested she and Davidson would have the "cutest babies," Grande wrote back on Twitter, "oh absolutely but ......... innnnnnnaaaaawhile." That conveniently isn't mentioned by the magazine, either. Also not acknowledged is Grande's Beats interview from earlier this month, in which she said she wants kids "eventually, down the line."
Still, the outlet refers to Grande and Davidson as "possible parents-to-be," and that may be the case one day. But according to the singer herself, a pregnancy isn't in her imminent future. It must also be stated that Blind Gossip is not a reliable resource for real celebrity news.
In March, OK! Australia made the mistake of using the blog as the basis for a cover story about Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt supposedly being "spotted" together. In April, Naughty Gossip took an item from the website and used it to claim Britney Spears was pregnant. And in May, OK! used a Blind Gossip piece to allege Tom Cruise banned Katie Holmes from the Met Gala. Now here is NW crediting the site for its theory that Grande is expecting. As a result of blindly copying the contentions, all of these tabloids have been embarrassingly wrong.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
