Ariana Grande did not cheat on Pete Davidson with ex-boyfriend Big Sean, contrary to a rumor that rapidly spread online on Saturday. While the claim seemed to come from the rapper himself, his Twitter account was actually hacked. Gossip Cop can explain what happened.
At approximately 2 p.m. Eastern Time, Big Sean's Twitter account was hacked. The unknown culprit started firing off a number of tweets, including several featuring the N-word. One of the missives stated, "ariana grande been cheating on pete with me this whole time that [expletive] a1." The allegation quickly spread, garnering more than 5,000 retweets and another 8,000 likes in roughly 15 minutes. "Big Sean" even became a trending topic.
Out of context, with fans only seeing that tweet, the post may come off as a legitimate confession. But when looking at Big Sean's entire Twitter feed, it's clear that the assertion is fake and part of the hacking. In fact, the person responsible went on to send tweets threatening to hack fellow performer Lil Pump, as well as President Donald Trump. When warned that hacking the president could result in jail time, the perpetrator replied, "[Expletive] I'm hiding behind 7 proxies Lol."
Gossip Cop immediately alerted Big Sean's reps to the situation, but it's unclear what action will be taken to regain control of his Twitter account. This is not the first time the rapper has been caught up in a Twitter firestorm not of his own doing. Back in 2015, a screengrab of a tweet purportedly sent by Big Sean circulated on social media, leading people to believe he was feuding with Justin Bieber over Grande.
After Bieber and Grande shared a stage at a concert, with him at one point putting his arms around her, it was claimed Big Sean fired off a tweet stating, "This kid is about to learn not to touch my girl like that. Beliebe that." After it was wrongly spread by thousands of people, his camp confirmed the tweet was fake, and that he never threatened Bieber, with whom he's friends for years. It should also be clear that Big Sean didn't really send this latest tweet about having an affair during Grande's current relationship with Davidson.
As widely reported, Grande and Davidson became engaged last month after just a few weeks of dating. Gossip Cop later debunked rumors that Grande is pregnant with his baby. As opposed to a Twitter hacking, that false claim was wrongly spread by the disreputable MediaTakeOut.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
