Anthony Alexander The Voice Audition Video

Anthony Alexander, the son of a former staffer on “The Voice,” received a standing ovation on Tuesday’s show. Watch the video below!

The Californian 17-year-old revealed in his pre-taped opening that his dad is a Hollywood camera operator who has worked on a number of shows, including the NBC music competition. In fact, his father would bring him to set to soak up the experience. Now the high schooler was ready to try out himself, and said he has a pop-rock-soul sound that is influenced by Justin Timberlake, Michael Jackson and the show’s own rocker, Adam Levine. He chose Childish Gambino’s “Redbone” as his Blind Audition song, showing off his falsetto for most of the track.

Levine hit his button first, with Jennifer Hudson and Miley Cyrus following later. The trio gave a standing ovation at the end, and the Maroon 5 frontman exclaimed to Blake Shelton, “Why did you not press your button? How stupid are you?!” Shelton explained, “I heard so many different influences in your life. A little Michael Jackson. I thought, you know what? I’m not going to be humiliated. This guy’s not going to me.”

Meanwhile, Hudson told Alexander, “You were exploring with your voice. I am extremely passionate about you, your vision, your dreams, your goals.” Cyrus noted, “You came out here so professional. When I was 17, I was a professional, too… I want to win this season. I’m gonna win this season, if everything lines up correctly. Here you are.” Levine also predicted, “This dude, almost quietly, is going to win this show… I really truly believe, Anthony, this feels like this is it right here.”

Fortunately for Levine, Alexander wanted to partner up, and he officially joined Team Adam. Check out the video below!
