Anne Heche wants Ellen DeGeneres back, according to a tabloid report. The talk show host, of course, is still happily married to Portia de Rossi. Gossip Cop can bust the story and explain what's really going on.
Earlier this month, Heche announced her split from James Tupper, her partner of more than 10 years. The now former couple have two kids together. The actress said in statement, "Relationships change and grow; we're taking time for that. We care very much for each other and plan to continue raising our two beautiful boys in love and harmony. Thank you for allowing us privacy as our family evolves."
Despite Heche's plea for privacy, the Australian gossip magazine NW is claiming to know she has her "sights set on getting Ellen back." The pair dated for roughly three and a half years before breaking up in the summer of 2000. Now nearly 18 years later, a so-called "insider" claims to the outlet, "Anne and Ellen have always been each other's big love."
"They had a terrible split, but that doesn't mean the fire still isn't raging," alleges the supposed source. To that end, the publication points to a comment Heche made to Barbara Walters in 2001 about DeGeneres being "the best sex I'd ever had." The tabloid conveniently left out the context in which the remark was made. Heche was reflecting on not just DeGeneres, but also her relationship with Coley Laffoon, whom she married that year. She made clear her ex-girlfriend was the source of the best sex she ever had... until Laffoon entered the picture.
Still, the magazine maintains Heche "still carries a torch" for DeGeneres, and includes silly lines like, "Portia, be warned" and "Watch out, Portia." Distastefully, the outlet even tries to connect the contentions to the recent California mudslides by asserting that although DeGeneres and de Rossi "survived" the deadly ordeal, "it seems more heartbreak could be headed their way — in the form of Ellen's 'true love.'"
But it's really just because Heche has split from Tupper that the publication is trying to reconnect her to DeGeneres. She's not really trying to reunite with her most famous ex, nor would the TV personality be open to a romantic reconciliation if she were. DeGeneres is so committed to de Rossi, they just jointed participated in People's Valentine's Day gift guide.
It's hardly surprising, though, that the gossip media is going this route. Two days ago, Gossip Cop busted Star for falsely alleging DeGeneres was in a "love triangle" with de Rossi and Heche. This is a typical tabloid move: When a star becomes single, link them to an ex. But there's no truth to it here.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
