Anne Hathaway is not “living in fear” following an incident in which a crew member was stabbed on the set of her upcoming movie, despite an inaccurate report. Gossip Cop can correct the story. The magazine just seems to be exploiting the situation.
Last month, a crew member working on the UK set of Hathaway’s upcoming movie, The Witches, was stabbed during a confrontation with a co-worker. The victim sustained a small laceration to his neck, while the attacker was arrested and later released on bond. Warner Bros., the studio behind the film, later confirmed it was an “isolated workplace incident” that was being handled by the police. It’s unclear if Hathaway was on set at the time the stabbing occurred.
According to the National Enquirer, the actress “has been shaken to her core by the attack,” to the point where she’s having trouble doing her job. “She cannot conceive how something this horrific could occur on what was supposed to be a secure and safe movie set,” a supposed source tells the outlet. The alleged insider further contends that the fiasco “affected her deeply” and she’s now worried about her own safety.
The tabloid’s story is based on claims from an anonymous and untraceable “source,” but Hathaway’s own spokesperson is going on the record to dismiss it as fiction. Despite what the magazine’s so-called “insider” claims, a rep qualified to speak on the actress’s behalf confirms she isn’t “living in fear” as a result of the on-set incident.
It’s worth noting, this wasn’t a random attack and the set of The Witches wasn’t specially targeted by an unknown assailant. The stabbing occurred during a heated argument that broke out between two men who knew each other. There’s no reason to believe anyone’s safety is in jeopardy going forward.
The tabloids don’t seem to have much insight when it comes to what’s happening on the set of the actress’s films. In May, Gossip Cop called out the Enquirer‘s sister outlet, Star, for falsely claiming Hathaway had feuded with her co-stars while shooting her movie The Hustle. The actress’s rep called the story “nonsense” and assured us she “had a blast making the film.” Her chemistry with the rest of the cast, including co-star Rebel Wilson, was evident during the film’s promotional tour.
Also last year, Gossip Cop busted the Enquirer‘s other sister publication, the Globe, for making up a story about Hathaway feuding with her Ocean’s 8 co-stars. However, there was a plethora of evidence proving the stars of the film adore each other, including posting loving Instagram posts and praising each other during interviews. At the very least, this latest article doesn’t include a fake feud, but the idea that Hathaway is terrified at work is baseless.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
