Anna Wintour is not working on a “secret book with Victoria Beckham,” despite a new report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct this fake news story. We’re told it’s absolutely “not true.”

According to OK!, the legendary Vogue editor has “urged” Beckham to write “an autobiographical style bible, and has even offered to help out!” A seemingly made-up “insider” is quoted as telling the tabloid, “Anna’s grown fond” of Beckham because she fought hard to “get accepted in the industry.” The same highly suspect “source” further claims Wintour feels Beckham is now “a key driving force in fashion… and has reminded Victoria it will be 10 years since she launched her range in 2018, and she needs to mark that milestone.” Another reason Wintour is pushing for Beckham’s supposed book, contends the often disproven magazine, is that the fashion editor considers “Victoria one of her key associates, and possibly even a successor!”

There’s some much wrong with the tabloid’s article it would be easier to simply make mention of what’s accurate. In any event, Wintour is not plotting a “secret book” with Beckham, nor is the singer turned fashion maven working on an “an autobiographical style bible.” It’s all untrue.

Among the hints for non-journalists that this is fake news is the phony sounding quote about how Wintour has “reminded Victoria” that it’s been 10 years since the latter launched her fashion label. Wouldn’t one assume that a successful businesswomen like Beckham would know when she began her company? Another clue pointing to the falsity of the publication’s article is the line about how Wintour views Beckham as her “successor.” While the two women are close, Beckham is not becoming the editor of Vogue.

Regardless, Gossip Cop simply fact-checked the outlet’s story. We reached out a source close to the Beckhams, who was puzzled by the OK! story. And a rep for the designer exclusively tells us the magazine’s claims about a book and Wintour’s involvement are both “not true.”

For full disclosure, it does not remotely surprise Gossip Cop that the tabloid manufactured this fake news story. More than a year ago, the same magazine splashed on its cover that Victoria and David Beckham had split and were on the verge of a “$1 billion divorce.” At the time, the article was dismissed by their reps as “nonsense” and “baseless.” The same words could be used for their latest claim about Wintour and Beckham working on a secret book together.
