Is Anna Faris furious over Chris Pratt's engagement to Katherine Schwarzenegger? That's the claim in one of this week's tabloids. Gossip Cop looked into the situation and we can set the record straight.
According to NW, the actress is angry about her ex-husband's engagement announcement because she had been planning to publicly reveal she's marrying boyfriend Michael Barrett. An alleged insider tells the magazine, "Anna had it all sorted out and Chris knew it. Then suddenly he's declaring he's popped the question to Katherine. It's all very sudden and Anna is convinced he's done it to steal her thunder."
The supposed source goes on to say Faris has "been forced to delay her own announcement for a couple of months so it doesn't look like she's copying Chris. She's not happy, to say the least." The suspicious tipster adds, "Their rush to the altar seems a bit quick as far as Anna is concerned."
Nothing about the tabloid's story is remotely true. In reality, Faris congratulated Pratt after he broke the engagement news on social media. "I'm so happy for you both!! Congratulations!" the actress commented on her ex-husband's Instagram post.
Shortly afterwards, Faris opened up about Pratt's engagement on her podcast "Anna Faris Is Unqualified." "Chris texted me this morning and he was like, you know, 'I proposed to Katherine last night,'" she said. "I was like 'Ah! That's amazing.'" The actress added, "And I texted him back, 'Just want to remind you, I'm an ordained minister.'" Between publicly congratulating her ex-husband and offering to officiate his wedding, it's pretty clear Faris isn't upset about Pratt and Schwarzenegger getting married.
Gossip Cop has also reached out to Faris' rep for a statement. The actress herself, however, has already let it be known she's happy for her ex-husband. Although it's unclear if the actress and her boyfriend of more than a year are headed down the aisle as well, the idea that Pratt "stole her thunder" is completely false.
Unfortunately, there have been a lot of bogus stories about the ex-spouses following their 2017 split. Gossip Cop busted OK! a few months ago for wrongly reporting Pratt and Faris were getting back together. Shortly before that, the magazine falsely claimed Pratt was just using Schwarzenegger to make Faris jealous. The gossip media insists on creating a soap opera out of the exes' divorce, but there's simply no drama between them.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
