Angelina Jolie is not "wasting away," nor was she recently "hospitalized," despite a bogus report in one of this week's new tabloids. The actress's health and weight are consistently used as the basis for phony stories, and Gossip Cop can expose this latest one.

According to Star, Jolie is currently under even more stress than she was amid her separation from Brad Pitt last year. An alleged "source" tells the magazine, "She's always struggled to keep weight on, but her life has been filled with so much chaos, so it's hardly been a priority." The outlet's questionable insider further claims the actress is too caught up with focusing on her children to take care of her health.

"There are times when she feels lightheaded and is on the verge of passing out," adds the supposed source, who goes on to say Pitt "reached out because he's so worried, and told her to start eating and get healthy for the kids sake. That just goes to show how serious this is, that he'd put their drama to the side for the sake of her health. Everyone who's close to Angie is concerned."

It should be noted, this article is teased on the tabloid's cover with the sensationalized headline, "Angie Hits Rock Bottom: 82 Pounds & Hospitalized!" Only, nowhere in the accompanying story is there any reference to a recent hospitalization. The closest mention is about the actress undergoing a preemptive double mastectomy in 2013. The cover also contends that Jolie's weight plummeted after learning "sordid new details about Brad," but these so-called "sordid details" are nowhere to be found in the article.

Jolie has been open about some of her legitimate past health issues, but Star repeatedly tries to inflict the actress with new ailments she doesn't have. Gossip Cop recently busted the magazine for wrongly reporting Jolie's friends feared she was suffering a "cancer crisis." We also recently debunked a similarly false article alleging Jolie's friends are worried about her weight.

Regardless, Gossip Cop checked in with a mutual pal of ours and Jolie to get to the bottom of this latest story, which we're assured is more fiction. Also, the actress recently made an appearance at the Hollywood Film Awards, and not a single reputable outlet said she looked frail or unhealthy. In fact, one magazine even noted that Jolie "shined" at the event.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
