Angelina Jolie did not try to get Brad Pitt back with the help of Selena Gomez, despite a report from exactly one year ago today. Gossip Cop busted the phony claim back then, and it's even more clear 365 days later that the entire premise was false. Far from wanting to reunite with Pitt, Jolie is pushing forward with her divorce from him.
On November 11, 2017, the serial fibbers at HollywoodLife concocted a bogus story that maintained Jolie was looking to copy Gomez's fashion style, all in an effort to win back Pitt. It predicated its completely absurd report on an inaccurate belief that Pitt and Gomez were flirting 21 months earlier at the 2016 Golden Globes. According the website, which is nicknamed HollywoodLies, Jolie began dressing in clothes "similar" to what Gomez "likes to wear" to both show Pitt "she's just as cute as Selena" and to remind her estranged husband of "what he's missing."
And while HollywoodLies contended, "Selena and Angelina actually own the same dress," they actually don't. Jolie was pictured in a short black sweater dress that had long sleeves, while Gomez was wearing a long grey sweater dress that was sleeveless. Clearly, the Oscar-winner and young actress didn't have the same dress, nor did Jolie use Gomez's "style" to lure back Pitt.
Of course, the underlying claim about Pitt and Gomez "flirting" at the Golden Globes and angering Jolie was nonsense, so there was never any real concern for Jolie nor did she feel a reason to copy the singer's style. More significantly, since filing for divorce in September 2016, Jolie has never had any desire to get back together with Pitt. If anything, as Gossip Cop recently reported, Jolie and Pitt are trying to settle their custody case out of court and quickly wrap up their divorce so that they can separately move on.
Gossip Cop noted 12 months ago it wasn't true that Jolie wasn't looking to Gomez for "style inspiration" to help reunite with Pitt, and it remains false to this day. Bizarrely, though, even though legitimate outlets have repeatedly reported how their divorce, at times, has turned bitter, HollywoodLies keeps returning, even of recent, to its untrue narrative about how Jolie regrets her split from Pitt. The often discredited blog seems to ignore how, according to a court filing in August, Jolie wants her divorce from Pitt finalized by the end of the year. Jolie's own rep even went on the record to state the actress is seeking "closure to the marriage," so that she and Pitt can move on to the next stage of their lives.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
