The tabloids targeted Angelina Jolie countless times in 2018. The top rumor came earlier this year when a magazine falsely claimed the actress was getting married to a wealthy British philanthropist. As time has proven, that never happened.
In March, Gossip Cop busted Life & Style for publishing a phony cover story saying Jolie was headed down the aisle with her secret boyfriend of more than a year. The supposed mystery man was said to be an English millionaire who she met during a visit to the U.K. in 2017. A supposed source told the outlet that the actress fell in love with her "fiance" after bonding over their shared passion for politics and helping refugees.
The magazine's alleged insider added, "Angelina can't wait to wed and says she's never been this in sync with someone before. Her goal is to ultimately settle in London with him and the kids. She's sure husband No. 4 will be her final husband."
As Gossip Cop noted when this phony story first emerged, the outlet never provided the identity of the so-called "British philanthropist." That's because he didn't exist. A source close to Jolie, who wasn't authorized to speak on the record, told us back in March that the story was completely made-up. That's become very evident all these months later. Not only did Jolie never marry a mystery British man, but she hasn't gone back into the dating world at all.
Just a few weeks after we busted the Life & Style story, People magazine reported that Jolie "has no interest in dating at all." The reputable celebrity news outlet added, "She is absolutely not seeing anyone and will not be. She will focus only on [her] children and being with them." E! News similarly noted that Jolie is "not dating," and added, "She's very focused on her kids and doesn't have a lot going on outside of that."
As opposed to relocating to London with her kids and a new husband, Jolie reached a custody arrangement with Brad Pitt last month. The specific terms of the agreement are being kept confidential, but the actor will reportedly be getting joint legal and physical custody of their children. It's worth noting, however, that the estranged spouses have yet to actually finalize their divorce. Jolie wouldn't have been able to get married again even if she were engaged to a mystery brit. Regardless, the supposed suitor was an imaginary character created by a tabloid.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
