Angelina Jolie is not sexing up her image with an "aggressive makeover" because she thinks it will help her chances of winning accolades during awards season, despite an absurd report. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk this ridiculous story.

The actress's new Netflix film First They Killed My Father, which she co-wrote and directed, has been submitted for Oscars consideration in the category of Best Foreign Language Film. According to RadarOnline, Jolie is scheming to garner awards buzz for the movie by flaunting herself around Hollywood. A so-called "source" tells the site, "Angelina is getting more aggressive than ever with her fashion choices and social appointments in order to make a maximum impression, especially at events where there's no chance Brad Pitt or any of his extensive network of Hollywood colleagues will be attending."

The outlet's dubious insider continues, "Brad's company is not in contention with a major film as they have been in all three of the previous awards seasons. That's given Angie the freedom to make bold choices you just don't see her doing that often." But the unreliable webloid fails to explain what these "bold choices" entail. In fact, Jolie wore a conservative silver gown that covered up almost all of her skin when she attended the Hollywood Film Awards earlier this month.

Shortly before that event, Jolie condemned sexual misconduct during an emotional speech at a United Nations peacekeepers conference. It seems unlikely that the actress, who's clearly passionate about women's equality, would exploit her body to attract awards consideration. There's also no correlation between the two in the first place. Often it's the women who conceal their good looks on screen, including Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman and Hilary Swank, who go on to win Oscars.

Regardless of this all being completely illogical and unfounded, Gossip Cop still checked in with a source close to Jolie, who exclusively assures us on background the webloid's report is entirely "false." Unfortunately, we're not surprised by the outlet's inaccurate story. Earlier this year, Gossip Cop called out the site for wrongly speculating that Jolie was adopting more kids simply because she was spotted with a group of children at Disneyland. This latest article is equally bogus.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
