Angelina Jolie never had a new boyfriend, contrary to a report a year ago. Gossip Cop is taking a look back at a bust from March 13, 2017 to show how it’s held up over time. Jolie was single then and remains so today, proving the story was false.

365 days ago, we called out RadarOnline for claiming Jolie had a “new man.” Alongside pictures of the actress at LAX with her children, the site alleged her “glowing look” might have to do with having a “new hunk” in her life in the wake of splitting from Brad Pitt. The suggestion that Jolie had a new beau was based on photos of the Oscar winner in Cambodia with a “mystery man.” The blog even asserted the pair was “caught sneaking out of her hotel at one point.”

“In a further blow to Pitt,” contended the website, Jolie had already introduced the “handsome stranger” to their kids, and the man was “spoiling” the brood with “gifts.” A so-called “source” cited by the outlet predicted Pitt would “hit the roof.” The online publication ultimately asked readers, “What do you think about Jolie letting another man get close to her kids?”

But as Gossip Cop explained then, this wasn’t some lover looking to replace Pitt as the children’s father. Jolie’s purported new man was not a boyfriend at all. The guy in question was a bodyguard. The reason he was seen with the actress and the kids is because he was supervising their time in Cambodia. In fact, Gossip Cop already pointed that out days prior when the website’s sister outlet, the National Enquirer, was the first to use the paparazzi pictures from the trip to wrongly suggest Jolie had a new love interest when she was really just being accompanied by a member of her security detail.

And though last fall Jolie admitted that she “doesn’t enjoy being single” in an interview with The Daily Telegraph, Jolie is also not interested in dating. She’s focused on her family and her career, not her love life. The same can’t be said for RadarOnline, which in December claimed Jolie and Pitt were getting “back together for Christmas” and contemplating reconciling. Notably, nothing was said then about her having a boyfriend.

Regardless, Gossip Cop busted the story upon learning the estranged spouses had no plans to spend time together. Of course, when the holidays came and went without Brangelina reuniting, it became clear our debunking was right. And now one year after the boyfriend tale, time has shown our reporting was correct then, too.
