Is Angelina Jolie pursuing a romance with Michelle Pfeiffer? That's the totally absurd claim in one of the tabloids this week. Gossip Cop can confirm there's no truth to it.
According to the National Enquirer, the reason Jolie hasn't been in a relationship with another man since her split from Brad Pitt is because she's looking for the love of a woman. The object of her desire? None other than Pfeiffer, her co-star in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. An alleged insider tells the magazine that Jolie is "swooning for" the fellow actress, and her pals believe she's trying to take their relationship to the next level.
Everything about the outlet's report is ludicrous. For starters, Pfeiffer has been married to producer David E. Kelley for 25 years, so it's safe to say she's spoken for. Here's what's really happening: in an interview with Access Hollywood last month, Jolie admitted she had a "teen crush" on Pfeiffer after seeing her in Grease 2. That playful comment in an interview was all the tabloid needed to create this fake narrative about Jolie pining for her co-star.
Gossip Cop ran the magazine's article by an individual in Jolie's camp, who dismissed it as "ridiculous." Jolie isn't pursuing a romance with her married female co-star, despite saying in an interview she had a "crush" on her when Grease 2 was released back in the '80s.
It should be mentioned, the Enquirer has trouble keeping track of its phony narratives. Just last month, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid for making up a story about Jolie being "on the prowl" for men. That bogus report said the actress was on the hunt for "her first serious boyfriend" following her breakup with Pitt. That article wasn't accurate either, but now one month later, the same magazine is claiming Jolie is hoping for a romance with Pfeiffer.
Back in June, Gossip Cop called out the publication for making up a story about Jolie falling in love with one of her male bodyguards. Even as far back as 2017, the Enquirer wrongly reported Jolie was dating a "mystery man." Now we're to believe she's actually been looking for female companionship amid her divorce from Pitt? The tabloid seems to come up with this nonsense as it goes along.
It's also worth noting, the Enquirer's sister publication, OK!, offered a very different take on Jolie and Pfeiffer's relationship last year. In June 2018, Gossip Cop debunked the magazine's bogus report about Jolie and Pfeiffer feuding on the set of the Maleficent sequel. The two actresses have a friendly and professional relationship. They're neither in love, nor at war, despite what the gossip media wants you to believe.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
