Angelina Jolie has lost her custody battle, as the kids are choosing to live with Brad Pitt, according to a wrong tabloid cover story. Gossip Cop can correct this inaccurate report. The long-term custody arrangements are still up in the air.

But the latest cover of the National Enquirer falsely announces: "Angelina Loses: The Kids Choose Brad!" Inside the issue, a headline declares, "Brad Wins The Kids!" The article alleges the former couple's six children have "turned their backs on their mom — and have chosen to live with dad instead." A so-called "insider" is quoted as saying, "The kids are fed up with their mom's behavior. They want to move back in with their dad as soon as possible." This untraceable source dramatically exclaims, "The children can't stand the drama under Angie's roof another single day!"

The magazine goes on to assert that "the children are itching for a full-blown reunion with their dad." Maintains the alleged tipster, "Brad's been an absolute hero to the kids. They're so proud and impressed at how he's turned his life around." The purported snitch continues, "They don't agree with Angie that Brad's a loser and wish she'd give him a break. But more than anything, they want to live with Brad and get to spending quality time together again." It's even claimed that Maddox, with whom Pitt infamously had an incident on a plane right before Jolie filed for divorce, is "sick of his mom and ready to move back in with Brad at the earliest opportunity."

But contrary to how this article makes it seem, the custody issues between Pitt and Jolie are still unresolved. They have agreed to continue their interim arrangement, which allows for the actor to regularly see the kids. But beyond that, nothing has been settled, and both sides are still negotiating. And in a new story about Jolie splitting from one of her lawyers, People reports that she "continues to support the reconciliation of the children with Brad."

This inaccurate cover story also regurgitates the publication's untrue claim about Jolie keeping a "dirty diary" on Pitt, and wrongly alleges she "kept the children 6,000 miles away from Brad all summer." Actually, according to Pitt and Jolie's summer custody agreement, he had visitation with them in London and in Los Angeles as well. Jolie herself stepped out in West Hollywood with the children on August 12, so obviously they have not been thousands of miles away from Pitt "all summer."

And while the tabloid insists the actress has become "alienated" from her own children, she has regularly been spotted out with them this month. For example, just a week ago Jolie went shopping with daughters Shiloh and Zahara, and only a day ago Jolie had an outing with son Pax. It's readily apparent that at this point in time, Jolie has not "lost" custody, and Pitt has not "won" it.

Lastly, it should be noted that the National Enquirer illustrates its story with a photo of Jolie crying. But it fails to tell readers the picture is from a United Nations event for World Refugee Day in 2003, before she and Pitt even embarked on a romance. Clearly, truth-telling is not the tabloid's specialty.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
