Angelina Jolie isn’t forcing her six kids to only wear “hand-me-down” clothes and eat cheap food, despite a false tabloid report. Gossip Cop thoroughly examined the story. We can confirm there’s no truth to it.
The latest issue of Globe tries to pass off this bizarre story about Jolie’s children — Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne — being in dressed in rags. If the clothes aren’t thrifted, they’re not allowed to wear them, according to the unreliable magazine. This is supposedly causing the children to resent their mom and her “cheap” ways.
“They’re hanging out with celeb friends like Millie Bobby Brown, who’s dressed in head-to-toe designer garb,” a supposed source tells the outlet. 14-year-old Zahara is said to be particular bothered because she “wants to be the next fashionista but is embarrassed to be seen in public in her variety-store clothes.”
As for the kids’ diets, the alleged insider says they’re surviving on cheap “TV dinners, canned soup and frozen hot dogs [Jolie] picks up in bulk.” Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the actress, who wasn’t able to speak on the record, but assures us the outlet’s article is simply “not true.”
The magazine’s story is also filled with holes. For instance, when 11-year-old Knox attended the premiere of Jolie’s film First They Killed My Father, he was wearing a brand new $66 cardigan, according to People magazine. That’s hardly a”hand-me-down” rag. In fact, all of the actress’s kids have gotten dressed up at their mom’s various premieres.
All the Globe had to do was look at additional photos of Jolie with her children to know this story was outrageously false. The six of them are constantly spotted getting breakfast with their mom, wearing shoes that were just released, looking completely comfortable and fashionable. The tabloid’s report is as wrong as it is lazy.
Even when Zahara and Shiloh were spotted hanging out with Brown, the Stranger Things star wasn’t exactly decked out in designer clothes. The young actress wore shorts and an oversized tee, and she’s typically wearing equally low-key clothes when she’s out and about. It’s hard to imagine feeling jealous of an acquaintance wearing Chuck Taylors.
For what it’s worth, we don’t think there’s anything wrong with TV dinners or frozen hot dogs. That being said, judging from the family’s visits to high-end restaurants and chic lunch spots, we highly doubt they’re a staple at the Jolie household or that the actress is being cheap with her kids. Oddly enough, the National Enquirer, the Globe‘s sister publication, claimed in June that Jolie was on board with the kids getting their own personal zoo. That seems like quite a big shift from someone who is apparently determined to make her kids live a life without luxuries.
Unfortunately, the Jolie-Pitt kids are the subjects of a lot of bogus reports. Just a few weeks ago, New Idea wrongly reported that 17-year-old Maddox was attempting to gain legal guardianship over all of his siblings. Earlier this year, HollywoodLife came up with a story about Brad Pitt being worried that Jolie was “spoiling” their kids, which wasn’t factual either.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
