Angelina Jolie hasn't settled down with Keanu Reeves, but exactly one year ago today, a tabloid falsely claimed the two were dating and their relationship was getting serious. Gossip Cop debunked the phony story when it emerged last year. Time has proven it to be completely untrue.
On October 4, 2018, Gossip Cop called out NW for wrongly reporting Jolie and Reeves had been "quietly dating" since July 2017. The outlet maintained that the two stars met and started a romance when Jolie moved next door to his mom's house in Los Angeles. According to the magazine, Reeves was also bonding with the actress's six kids, who approved of their mom's relationship with the John Wick star.
From there, the tabloid asserted that Jolie and Reeves took a trip to a Greek island together. An anonymous source also told the outlet that the two were coming close to settling down, much to the delight of the actor's mother, who believed the actress "would fit right in with the family."
At the time this report was published last year, Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to Jolie, who assured us she wasn't in any sort of relationship with Reeves. There was also very zero evidence to back up the story, but many reasons to doubt it. For instance, if Jolie and Reeves had truly been dating since July 2017, it's nearly impossible they wouldn't have been photographed together between then and October 2018. They weren't and they still haven't been spotted together.
A mutual pal of ours and Jolie also told us last year that the actress wasn't interested in dating, and was instead focused on her kids and her career. Reputable outlets such as People magazine and E! News reported the same thing. One year later, that remains the case.
Unfortunately, the false rumors surrounding the two stars reemerged this past June when Star published a bogus cover story claiming Jolie had asked Reeves out on a date. A spokesperson for the actor told Gossip Cop on the record that the story was "completely false," while the actress's rep confirmed she was single.
The following week, however, Woman's Day made up an article about Jolie hoping that Reeves would join her in the Marvel movie, Eternals, so she could date him once they started working together. The premise was fabricated after some outlets reported that Reeves was in talks for the project, but he never signed on for the film. Regardless, an individual in the actress's camp laughed off the idea that she was planning to pursue the actor on set.
Gossip Cop looks back at stories from a year ago to show how tabloid reports that aren't true simply never age well. Despite what was said by NW in October 2018, it's very clear one year later that Jolie and Reeves aren't a couple.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
