Does Angelina Jolie want to date Justin Theroux to "get even" with Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston? That's what one of the tabloids is claiming. But this new twist on one of Hollywood's most infamous love triangles isn't true. Gossip Cop can bust the story.
The questionable claim can be found in the current edition of NW, which declares in a headline, "Angie Sinks Her Claws Into Justin!" According to the gossip magazine, Jolie is "peeved" that Pitt and Aniston are "back together," so she has a "plan to get even... by hooking up with Justin." A so-called "showbiz source" alleges to the outlet that Jolie "always had a big thing" for Theroux, since before she and Pitt began dating in 2005. The supposed snitch even asserts, "He's edgy and much more in line with the guys she used to date before all-American Brad came along."
And "now that they're both single, she decided to reach out and suggested they get together," claims the purported insider. But while the publication alleges Jolie contacted Theroux under the guise of working on a "possible film together," it also contends, "Anyone who knows her knows that she's got an ulterior motive — revenge." That said, the tabloid claims Theroux doesn't "mind being a pawn in her game."
Suspiciously, the same "showbiz source" who offered Jolie's alleged perspective somehow also seems know Theroux's thoughts as well. "Justin's well aware of this admiration Angie has for him and sees no harm in meeting up with her," says the almost assuredly fake "source." The magazine's tipster adds, "He doesn't feel like he owes Jen anything by keeping away" from Jolie. The outlet ends its tale by throwing in the random allegation that "Justin might have even had an affair" while married to Aniston.
Of course, the publication can't identify with whom Theroux supposedly had a dalliance because he didn't have one. As Gossip Cop has already reported, Aniston and Theroux did not cheat on each other, and there was no third party involved in their breakup. Furthermore, Aniston is not dating Pitt in the wake of her separation. That makes the whole premise of this story about Jolie wanting to "get even" and get "revenge" on them by going after Theroux completely preposterous and illogical.
But this is the same tabloid that just last week falsely told readers in a cover story that Pitt and Aniston are "getting married again." It's as if the magazine's claims come from some alternate universe. But back in reality, the exes haven't gotten back together, nor is Jolie trying to stir things up with Theroux, Gossip Cop is told on background by several contacts who know the parties involved.
Curiously, this article about Jolie starting a relationship with Theroux makes no mention of her having a "boy toy." That was the tabloid's big story last week. It appears the outlet just likes running sensational and salacious claims regardless of accuracy.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
