Are Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston really set for a "showdown" over Brad Pitt this coming awards season? That's the ridiculous story a tabloid is selling. Gossip Cop can set the record straight.
According to the Globe, Jolie and Aniston will "come face-to-face" at the Golden Globes next month, and when they do, "it'll get ugly." Aniston is nominated for her performance on the TV series The Morning Show, while Pitt scored a nod for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Jolie isn't up for an award at the Golden Globes this year, but the magazine maintains she'll be crashing the event anyway.
"It won't be pretty if [Jolie] runs into them, which is highly likely - and if they're together, it'll be even more explosive," a supposed source tells the magazine. The "insider" goes on to say that Aniston "hates how Angelina has treated Brad" amid their tumultuous divorce. As for Jolie, the actress "thinks Jen is pathetic because she won't move on and feels the need to interfere and gossip about her," says the anonymous tipster.
Pitt and Aniston are on good terms and they'll both be in attendance at the Golden Globes next month. Jolie won't be. Gossip Cop reached out to an individual in the actress's camp, who tells us the magazine's article is nonsense. The Maleficent star isn't crashing the awards ceremony to confront Aniston. The story doesn't make sense either. If Jolie wanted to confront the Friends star, which she doesn't, why would she do it at a highly-publicized awards show? Jolie has never even spoken about Aniston publicly. We're to believe she suddenly wants a very public showdown?
Meanwhile, Aniston's spokesperson says there's no ongoing feud between her and Jolie. The two actresses have no relationship and both have moved on with their lives. The Globe can't seem to do the same.
Just last month, the tabloid falsely claimed Aniston intentionally attacked Jolie by taking a dig at Marvel movies in an interview. The Friends star had suggested that superhero movies are "diminishing" the film industry, while Jolie happens to be appearing in Marvel's Eternals next year. However, Aniston's comment had absolutely nothing to do with Jolie. She was simply discussing the changing nature of the film industry.
Last year, the tabloid said the reason Jolie was battling Pitt for custody of their kids is because she found out he was "hooking up" with Aniston. Pitt and Aniston aren't back together. The actor's divorce from Jolie has nothing to do with his ex-wife. The Globe's reports have more in common with soap operas than journalism.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
