Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston have been roped together into countless tabloid stories. Gossip Cop frequently debunks false narratives involving the two actresses. Here are five recent wrong rumors.
Just this week, Gossip Cop busted Life & Style for wrongly reporting that Jolie is dating Aniston's estranged husband Justin Theroux. The outlet contended that Jolie met the actor at a restaurant in New York City in August under the guise of working together, but she ended up "seducing" him instead. The story was based on claims from an anonymous "source," but Theroux's rep told us on the record that he's not in a romance with the actress, who hasn't even been spotted in New York in the past several months. Additionally, reputable publications have reported that Jolie "has no interest in dating" and is focused only on her children.
Last month, Gossip Cop called out NW for making up a story about Jolie warning Aniston to stay away from Brad Pitt and her six kids. The ridiculous article was based on the false premise that the actor is back with Aniston and has been allowing the actress to spend time with his children, which isn't the case. In addition to reps for both stars assuring us several times that they haven't reconciled, "Entertainment Tonight" recently reported that Pitt "has taken a step away from dating because of the importance of his children and also to help mend fences with Angelina." The idea that the actor started dating his ex-wife again, then decided to introduce her to his kids amid a custody battle, is simply ludicrous.
In August, Gossip Cop debunked an OK! story about Aniston and Jolie feuding over becoming the biggest star at Netflix. The premise was concocted because Jolie directed a film for the streaming service, and Aniston is attached to star in two movies for the content provider. The phony rivalry was created simply because both actresses simply happened to have worked for the company. Both women have busy and successful careers outside of Netflix and aren't competing for projects there.
Gossip Cop busted the Globe in August for falsely claiming that the real reason Jolie is battling Pitt for custody of their kids is because she discovered he's been hooking up with Aniston. The tabloid alleged that Pitt and Aniston had been meeting up for "steamy romps all summer." The narrative was very flawed considering that the actor spent the summer in Los Angeles shooting Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, while the actress spent the summer in Europe filming Murder Mystery. Additionally, Aniston's friend Portia de Rossi confirmed to Us Weekly in June that the actress and her ex-husband "haven't seen each other."
And finally, Woman's Day Australia claimed in August that when Jolie was still with Pitt, she had banned George Clooney from being friends with Aniston. The magazine said it was a "horrible situation" for Clooney and Aniston, but they agreed to cut ties to avoid any awkwardness. Shortly before the bogus story emerged, however, E! News published an article dedicated to the history of Aniston and Clooney's "Brad Pitt-defying" friendship, which has been going strong since the '90s. In fact, Aniston joined the actor on several vacations during the years that Pitt and Jolie were still together. Jolie never came between the longtime pals.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
