A tabloid cover story claiming Angelina Jolie runs a “house of horrors” was made up. Though this article contains purported details about the Oscar winner’s struggles as a single mom, the claims are inauthentic. Gossip Cop is assured no one close to Jolie is talking to the gossip media about what does or doesn’t go on inside her home.
But In Touch is blaring, ” Inside Angelina’s House Of Horrors: Without Brad, All Hell Breaks Loose.” According to the story, it’s “sheer chaos” at the Cecil B. DeMille estate, which Jolie purchased earlier this year as a residence for herself and her six children. And after allegedly allowing the kids to decorate the mansion themselves, it’s now a “cross between a trashed frat house and a DayGlo covered rave,” a so-called “family insider” claims to the gossip magazine, further asserting, “It’s a house of horrors.” That’s where the cover line comes from, but what real “family insider” would say such a thing to a tabloid? Gossip Cop is told none.
This supposed family source goes on to say such things as, “Angelina has lost control. It’s shocking what goes on in this house,” and an alleged “insider close to Angie” further contends to the outlet, “It’s a desperate, lonely existence for Angelina right now.” Again, a person legitimately in the actress’ camp wouldn’t say that to a gossip magazine. But these two purported tipsters go on to describe “loud brawling” among the kids, scribbled-on walls, “food fights and water fights” inside, and no bedtimes. What’s more is the “family insider” even claims “the kids delight in letting loose their collection of animals to terrorize visitors and household staff.”
“All hell has broken loose, and the raucous activity has taken a toll on the 11,000-square-foot structure,” maintains the outlet. There’s even a supposed Brad Pitt source, who is quoted as saying, “Angelina has no clue what she is doing. There are absolutely no rules… It’s a case of the lunatics taking over the asylum.” The publication also goes as far as insisting Jolie can’t even manage “basic caregiving.” But if this sounds familiar at all, it’s likely because OK! peddled similar contentions last month in a made-up “nanny tells all” cover story about Jolie. Make no mistake: This is not In Touch now corroborating that prior report. It’s the tabloids doing what they so often do, and that’s crafting a false narrative filled with gross exaggerations.
This isn’t the first time the “house of horrors” phrase has even been used. In 2012, the National Enquirer slapped that declaration on its cover after Katie Holmes split from Tom Cruise, leading the actor to file a lawsuit against the outlet. Jolie is merely the gossip media’s new target. And while the actress herself has admitted that maintaining a single-parent household has been an adjustment, Gossip Cop is told this cover story has been greatly embellished just to attract attention and sales. And, as noted above, no real sources are talking with the same magazine that lied about Jolie having a wedding in Cambodia earlier this year. Notably, that isn’t mentioned anywhere in this new article about the actress’ single life.
Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
