One of this week's tabloids claims Angelina Jolie is suffering a health crisis over the news of Brad Pitt and Charlize Theron's so-called "romance." The story is untrue on every level. Gossip Cop can correct it.
According to the Globe, Jolie is "wasting away" as she deals with extreme loneliness and anorexia, both of which were supposedly brought on by her estranged husband dating "her rival" Theron. The magazine's story is wrong from the onset. As Gossip Cop has stressed several times, Pitt and Theron aren't a couple. Several unreliable outlets spread this rumor last month, but the actor's spokesperson has told us on the record that he's never been in a relationship with the actress, who he briefly worked with last year on a campaign for Breitling watches. The actor's rep has made it clear he "hasn't seen her in months" and they never dated.
Despite the fact that Pitt and Theron aren't together, an alleged insider tells the magazine that Jolie is "losing weight at an alarming rate and suffering from insomnia, as well as anxiety," over the (nonexistent) romance. "Angie can't eat, and she can't sleep," adds the supposed source, who goes on to say that Pitt's (imaginary) new relationship has "destroyed her appetite" to the point where she only weighs 93 pounds.
The magazine's premise surrounding Jolie's health is predicated on the false idea that her estranged husband is dating Theron, which isn't the case. Regardless, Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the actress, who also confirms that she's not suffering a health crisis. The tabloids have been recycling this bogus narrative for quite some time. Back in October, the Globe's sister publication, Star, wrongly alleged Jolie was "73 pounds and hanging by a thread" amid her custody battle with Pitt.
The fact is, Jolie has always been thin, both during her marriage to Pitt and following their split. That doesn't mean she's suffering from "anorexia," despite the tabloids assigning her arbitrary weights. In addition to caring for six kids, the actress also has a busy workload. She currently has three films in the can and recently signed on to star in the action-thriller Those Who Wish Me Dead. A person suffering major health woes simply wouldn't be capable of juggling such a hectic schedule, nor would one pass the physicals required by the insurers of movies.
Earlier this month, the Globe made up a story about Jolie believing Theron was dating Pitt to get "revenge" on her. The tabloid insists on dragging the South African actress into the false romance rumors surrounding her estranged husband. This time around, Jolie's health is being targeted. This ongoing saga is baseless and rooted in fiction.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
