A certain webloid is peddling yet another fake news story about Angelina Jolie and the Golden Globes. This latest one is about how she supposedly "laughed off" a near run-in with Jennifer Aniston at the awards show. Gossip Cop can bust this made-up report.
HollywoodLife, which is also known as HollywoodLies for its propensity to concoct fictional tales, readily manufactures bogus stories about Jolie. Over the last week, almost all such suspicious offerings from the site have been tied to the Golden Globes. This has been done not just to capitalize on people's interest in Jolie, but to exploit the fact that the annual event is currently a hot topic.
A week ago, HollywoodLies peddled a faux "exclusive" about how Jolie was refusing to "shy away" from Aniston if they crossed paths at the ceremony. That was followed by an equally fictitious "exclusive" about how Aniston was "mentally prepared" to see Jolie at the awards show. Next was a bogus "exclusive" about how Pitt was "furious" Jolie took their son Pax to the event. Not one of these were legitimately reported articles.
And now on Thursday, four days after the Golden Globes actually took place, there's a new "exclusive" headlined, "Angelina Jolie 'Laughed Off' Near-Run In With Jennifer At Golden Globes: Why She Wasn't Worried." According to this narrative, the site has "heard" Jolie "wasn't concerned at all" about seeing her estranged husband's ex-wife. A so-called "source" is quoted as saying, "When Angelina sees Jen in public, which does happen, as she did at the Golden Globes, Angie hardly gives her a second thought."
This supposed source maintains, "Angie feels like everything about Jen is ancient history. It has been years since Jen was with Brad and it has been a while now since Angelina has been with him too; it's no big deal to Angelina." What makes these quotes particularly laughable is that HollywoodLies itself often goes against these notions, pitting the two women against each other whenever possible as if they still in each other's orbits. Now the blog is admitting that isn't actually the case.
Separately, a tip off that the quotes are 100 percent fake is that TWICE the phony "source" can't decide if Jolie is "Angie" or "Angelina." The bogus "source" says, "When Angelina sees Jen in public, which does happen, as she did at the Golden Globes, Angie hardly gives her a second thought." Then the fake insider is quoted as saying, "Angie feels like everything about Jen is ancient history. It has been years since Jen was with Brad and it has been a while now since Angelina has been with him too." No real person does that.
As it should become abundantly clear, there is no "insider" who's divulged this information to the outlet. Rather, these are obvious conclusions. Aniston herself said as much when talking about her divorce from Pitt in a "CBS Sunday Morning" interview in 2015. "I don't find it painful... I think it's a narrative that follows you because it's an interesting headline. It's more of a media-driven topic," she said, adding that "everybody" has moved on. It isn't exactly a scoop for HollywoodLies to now claim Jolie has also moved on from the situation.
And, as Gossip Cop previously pointed out in our first bust on this subject last week, the Golden Globes were not the first time Jolie and Aniston have been at an awards show together. There were no incidents in the past, so there was no real reason to think there could've been some kind of dust-up this time. HollywoodLies just wanted a Golden Globes-related saga for Jolie and decided Aniston and Pitt angles were the way to go.
Too bad Gossip Cop can see right through it. Not to mention, we've once again been assured that those in Jolie's camp aren't talking to this blog about such matters. And Pitt and Aniston's reps also confirm to Gossip Cop that no one in their circles are sharing anything with HollywoodLies.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
