Angelina Jolie did not go on a “48-hour bender” during her visit to New York City last month, despite a completely bogus report. Gossip Cop looked into the situation and we can exclusively set the record straight.

According to the Australian tabloid NW, the actress partied nonstop while attending various events in New York in mid-December. A so-called “onlooker” at the United Nations Correspondents Association Awards, where Jolie received an honor, claims she “looked so wasted” while leaving the gala. “She’s been out every night since she got to New York and the booze has been flowing,” adds another alleged insider.

The supposed source further contends that the actress enjoys copious amounts of alcohol, but won’t eat. “Since she’s drinking on an empty stomach it goes right to her head and it sometimes makes her violently ill. She’s wasting away to nothing and no one is sure what to do to help her.” The seemingly phony insider adds, “This has been going on for years, but it’s gotten worse in recent months. It’s been a slow and scary downhill spiral.”

However, much of this is provably untrue. Jolie spent her entire New York City trip with four of her children, who accompanied her to the U.N. awards ceremony. The following night, Jolie brought her kids to an event at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Additionally, just about every paparazzi photo of the actress’s visit to the Big Apple shows her alongside her children. Tellingly, not one New York outlet, including the New York Times or even New York Post, reported that Jolie was boozing until she got “violently ill.”

Jolie recently told Vanity Fair, “I’m putting my family first, and I’m in charge of my life and my health.” Doesn’t sound like the words of a person drinking her way through the Big Apple. Still, Gossip Cop investigated the “48-hour bender” claim, and we’re exclusively assured on background there’s “no truth” to it. We’re further told the outlet’s account of the actress’s alleged eating and drinking habits is entirely wrong. This is yet another example of a tabloid baselessly attacking the actress’s physical and emotional well-being amid her divorce from Brad Pitt.
