A new story claiming Angelina Jolie is “desperate” to work with Justin Theroux following his split from Jennifer Aniston is completely made-up. Gossip Cop can correct this fake news, which was crafted by HollywoodLife. In fact, in the wake of Theroux and Aniston’s separation, we predicted the website would manufacture this kind of bogus angle.
According to the often discredited outlet, Jolie is a “big fan” of Theroux. A so-called “source” is then quoted as telling the online publication, “Angelina is interested in working with Theroux. She actually put feelers out before he and Jennifer’s split.” The website’s questionable “insider” goes on to assert that when “Justin and Jennifer were together, no one expected it to happen, but now that they’ve split the chances of him saying yes to [working with] Angelina are way up.”
The outlet’s alleged “source” is further quoted as saying, “Justin’s a very ambitious guy and his star is on the rise. Doing a project with Angelina could really take him to the next level.” The site’s seemingly fake “insider” contends, “It would really hurt Jennifer… but it’s certainly going to be tempting for him.” Amusingly, the website adds that it’s “thoughtful” of Jolie to “wait” until after Theroux’s split from Aniston to try and work with him.
Let Gossip Cop set the record straight. Jolie is not “desperate” to work with Theroux, nor is “The Leftovers” star “tempted” to accept the actress’s offer to work with her. And of course he doesn’t need her to “take him to the next level.” He’s a success on his own. In addition to having multiple projects in development, Theroux has starred in dozens of films and TV shows, as well as written several blockbusters, including Ironman 2 and Zoolander 2.
Significantly, as opposed to the aptly nicknamed HollywoodLies, which hides behind unnamed and untraceable (and almost assuredly nonexistent) sources, Gossip Cop has been repeatedly told on the record by Jolie and Theroux’s reps have that no one remotely close to either star is feeding that site information about them. Sadly, we’re hardly surprised by this latest piece of fiction, since it comes from the same outlet that previously claimed Jolie felt “vindicated” after Theroux and Aniston’s split. It should be noted that no reputable outlet such as People, Entertainment Weekly, or The Hollywood Reporter, is reporting anything like this, and that’s because they don’t concoct claims.
HollywoodLies likes to make up stories about random celebrities wanting to meet up after they’ve split from their significant others. It did the same thing, for instance, when Blake Shelton began dating Gwen Stefani. Among the site’s fake news stories spun out of that was a piece titled, “Miranda Lambert To Meet With Gavin Rossdale.” More than two and a half years have passed since that fabricated tale and it remains a lie, much like this current tale about Theroux and Jolie will also be proven with time to be untrue.
Still, Gossip Cop fact-checked this new report with its junior high school premise, and a Jolie insider, who commented on background in an effort to not dignify’s HollywoodLies’ bogus story, tells us the claim about her wanting to work with Theroux in the wake of his split from Aniston is entirely “false” and “made-up.” Actually, this is precisely what Theroux and Aniston warned about when they announced their separation. They stated very clearly, “The gossip industry cannot resist an opportunity to speculate… Whatever else is printed about us that is not directly from us, is someone else’s fictional narrative.” We have no doubt the website will continue to peddle more fake news about Jolie, Theroux and Aniston. And every time they do, Gossip Cop will be here to call them out.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
