Angelina Jolie has not "found love again," despite a report from exactly one year ago today. Gossip Cop debunked the claim then, and it still remains false to this day. In fact, in the intervening 12 months since that inaccurate story, Jolie hasn't dated anyone.
On January 13, 2018, New Idea maintained Jolie had "found love again" with a filmmaker and musician from Cambodia. The often discredited magazine asserted the actress's "new man" was rapper PraCh Ly, who it alleged would secretly visit Jolie's Hollywood home. According to the tabloid, Ly not only taught the family about Buddhism, but also formed an especially close connection to Jolie's oldest son, Maddox, who was adopted from Cambodia.
Making matters worse, the outlet took many of its quotations from a National Enquirer article that Gossip Cop had already debunked. For instance, a supposed "insider" was quoted as contending Jolie and Ly were "perfect" for one another, and that she was "clearly smitten" with him. The same made-up "source" added how Jolie "hasn't looked this happy in a long time" until she met Ly, with whom she shared a "special bond."
It's true Jolie knows Ly, who's also the director of Long Beach, California's Cambodia Town Film Festival, but their relationship is professional and 100 percent platonic. She originally met him through Loung Ung, whose memoir, First They Killed My Father, Jolie turned into the 2017 Netflix movie of the same name. In October 2017, for example, Ly moderated a Q &A with Ung and Jolie after a screening of the film at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach.
And Ly went with Jolie, her kids, and Ung to Long Beach's Cambodia Buddhist Temple in November 2017, which seemingly prompted the narrative about him teaching her children about Buddhism. Still, Jolie's camp denied to Gossip Cop there was anything more than a friendship at the time, and nothing has changed in the following 365 days. Actually, they've only been photographed once since then, and it was when Jolie attended the Cambodia Town Film Festival last September.
Curiously, four months after New Idea alleged she was "smitten" with Ly, the very same publication ran a story about how Jolie was ready for a romance with Ed Skrein, her Maleficent 2 co-star. By September, clearly having forgotten about Ly (and Skrein), the tabloid claimed Jolie was set to "wed a British billionaire." Naturally, the outlet had no details about the "mystery Englishman," including how they met, or when or where he and Jolie were supposedly going to tie the knot.
In neither of those articles did the tabloid make no mention of how it had reported earlier in the year that Jolie was dating PraCh Ly. Of course, none of those stories were remotely accurate. The truth is Jolie was not dating anyone then, nor is she now. As her camp has repeatedly assured Gossip Cop, the actress is "not interested in dating. She is focused on her children and work."
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
