The cover of one of this week’s tabloids dramatically implies Angelina Jolie is suffering a “cancer crisis,” but the story is simply a bait-and-switch designed to dupe readers and sell magazines. Gossip Cop can expose this fake news.

“Fears For Angelina,” reads a new headline in Star, which goes on to claim the actress “has a troubling new cancer nightmare.” The accompanying article, however, provides zero evidence she’s battling such an illness. Instead, the outlet says Jolie’s friends are worried about her supposed recent weight loss, quoting a supposed “source” as saying, “She’s just 90 pounds and still dropping weight. Angie has struggled with this for years, and there have been whispers that she has battled anorexia.”

The outlet’s dubious insider continues, “At this stage in her life, it’s scary for her to continue neglecting her body this way. She refuses to eat and is basically starving herself.” The magazine goes onto quote a doctor, who hasn’t treated the actress, as saying, “Calorie deprivation can damage internal organs, and the situation can then quickly devolve into a full-blown health crisis.”

At no point in the article, however, does Star make mention of the “new cancer crisis” teased on the magazine’s cover. Instead, the story only mentions that Jolie underwent a preventative double mastectomy in 2013 to reduce the risk of getting cancer, and also that her cousin is allegedly battling melanoma. The misleading cover was seemingly designed to trick consumers into shelling out $5.99 on a tabloid that doesn’t deliver the scoops it promises.

In addition to the “cancer fears” being unfounded, Gossip Cop is also told by a source close to the actress that she doesn’t have an eating disorder and her friends aren’t concerned about her weight. The report was completely fabricated, which isn’t surprising considering we’ve repeatedly called out Star for spreading fake news about the actress.

Gossip Cop recently busted the magazine for falsely claiming Jolie was having a baby with a “secret lover.” Shortly before that nonsense, we debunked the tabloid’s bogus cover story alleging Jolie might write a tell-all book about her divorce from Brad Pitt. This latest article about the actress is simply more misinformation from the unreliable publication.
