Angelina Jolie is not jealous of Brad Pitt's successful year in movies, nor is she trying to steal the spotlight from him, despite a bogus tabloid report. Gossip Cop can debunk the phony drama. It's totally fabricated.
Pitt has been enjoying somewhat of a comeback year after not appearing on the big screen since 2016's Allied, which underperformed at the box office. His 2017 Netflix movie War Machine flew a bit under the radar as well, but the actor had a huge hit this year with Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. He's also received rave reviews for his latest film, Ad Astra. Many predict Pitt's name will be in the running come awards season.
Tabloids don't like celebrating success, so the National Enquirer has instead decided to invent a story about Jolie being "livid" over her estranged husband's career triumphs. "She can't handle this incredible comeback he's made, despite her best efforts to tear him down," a supposed insider tells the outlet. "She's not even hiding the fact that she's bitter. You only have to drive past a billboard in Hollywood with his face plastered all over it and her lip visibly curls."
The alleged source goes on to say that Jolie agreed to star in the upcoming Maleficent sequel to "steal the spotlight" from Pitt, but the plan didn't work. Of course, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil hasn't even hit theaters yet, and the Disney sequel is expected to be a hit, so we're not sure how the tabloid can make such a declaration. Still, the seemingly phony tipster insists Jolie has been "left with no friends" in Hollywood because she's "poured so much dark energy into this dirty divorce."
However, in addition to the Maleficent sequel, Jolie has three major films in post-production and she's currently filming the Marvel movie Eternals. It seems there are plenty of people in Hollywood who are still happy to work with the actress, who's own career has been on an upswing lately. Still, Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to Jolie, who assures us the magazine's report is baseless. The actress isn't the least bit disturbed by Pitt's recent successes.
It's worth noting, E! News reported less than a month ago that Pitt and Jolie have been attempting to make peace and work out their issues for the sake of their children. The reputable outlet noted, "They've both decided to try and put their differences aside and to do whatever they can to raise the kids in the healthiest environment possible." That doesn't involve Jolie harboring a resentment over her ex's movie career.
The Enquirer is the same outlet that Gossip Cop busted in March for falsely claiming Jolie had developed a drinking problem because Pitt was back together with Jennifer Aniston. In addition to Jolie not having any issues with alcohol, Pitt hasn't reunited with Aniston, so the entire narrative was baseless. Last year, the publication made up a ridiculous story about Jolie fleeing to France with her kids amid her custody battle with Pitt. The unreliable tabloid has proven to have zero insight into Pitt and Jolie's dynamic amid their divorce.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
