Angelina Jolie never went on TV and bashed Brad Pitt, but exactly one year ago, a tabloid claimed the actress would be attacking her estranged husband in interviews. Gossip Cop corrected the bogus premise when it first emerged. Time has proven it never happened.
On December 11, 2018, Gossip Cop called out Heat for falsely claiming Jolie was "plotting revenge" against Pitt with a series of TV interviews in which she'd disparage his skills as a father. The story was written shortly after the estranged spouses reached a custody agreement giving the actor more visitation rights. According to the magazine, Jolie was furious about not getting full custody of their six kids, so she planned to take "subtle digs" at him.
A supposed source told the magazine, "Part of their settlement includes a clause preventing her from directly publicly trashing him, but Ange is smart enough to find a way around that." The "insider" said Jolie was planning interviews in which she'd allude to Pitt's struggles with alcohol, but under the guise of "promoting charities that support causes such as single moms dealing with alcoholic dads."
An individual in Jolie's camp told us last year that the story was made-up. We were assured the actress had no intention of going on TV and slamming Pitt in sneaky ways. It never happened. In fact, the only on-air interviews with Jolie this past year were filmed at press junkets for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. The actress mostly discussed her new movie in these interviews. Pitt never came up.
The closest Jolie came to taking a "subtle dig" at Pitt was in her Harper's Bazaar cover story last month. The actress noted that she'd love to move abroad with her kids, but had to stay in Los Angeles "where their father chooses to live." That's not exactly a slam against her ex, though it might be considered a very low-key way of saying she's frustrated with their custody battle. The actress didn't allude to "alcoholic dads" in her cover story. The interview wasn't on TV either.
Unfortunately, Heat has continued to push this idea that the Maleficent star is out for "revenge." In October, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid for falsely claiming Jolie was making a movie with Justin Theroux to get "revenge" on Jennifer Aniston. There's no such film project in the works. The magazine knows nothing about how the actress is handing her divorce. She's certainly not using her career or TV interviews to seek vengeance.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
