Angelina Jolie is not "tortured by regret" over leaving Brad Pitt, despite an inaccurate tabloid report. Gossip Cop can debunk the phony premise. It's simply not the case.

According to OK!, the actress was just practicing some "tough love" when she filed for divorce from her estranged husband in September 2016, but the plan has "backfired." An alleged insider tells the magazine, "This whole thing was never meant to be permanent," but now that Pitt is sober and going to therapy, "he doesn't want her back, and it's hurting Angie big time."

The supposed source adds, "She can say this has been the worst year of her life. Angie's the skinniest she's been in a very long time. The stress has wreaked havoc on her appetite. Most of the time she just picks at her food. It's like she doesn't seem to realize the harm she's doing to her body and her overall health."

The suspicious insider goes on to say that Jolie is still clinging on to the hope that she and Pitt can repair their marriage. "When Angie first ended things, a part of her felt like maybe she could do better than Brad. But now she's realizing that's not possible — he's as good as they get," says the seemingly nonexistent source. "She'll do anything to fix this mess and make things right between them again."

The tabloid's premise makes very little sense. Jolie and Pitt have been engaged in a nasty custody battle for quite some time, and the actress has even been accused of keeping the kids away from their father. In fact, a judge ruled in June that Jolie could lose primary custody of the children if she doesn't allow Pitt to spend more time with them. As of last week, Pitt and Jolie began child custody evaluations to finalize their arrangement. It certainly doesn't sound like Jolie has ever had any intention of wanting to reconcile.

Despite the publication's story lacking logic, Gossip Cop still checked in with a reliable source close to Jolie, who confirms the article is fabricated. OK! is the same unreliable magazine that we busted in July for falsely claiming Jolie was dating a "mysterious" British philanthropist. Not only does this latest article make no mention of the actress's "British boyfriend," but now we're supposed to believe she's been pining for Pitt this whole time? The tabloid's bogus reports aren't even consistent.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
