One of the tabloids is trying to make it seem as if Angelina Jolie "blindsided" Brad Pitt by supposedly "fleeing" to New Mexico with their six kids. The premise isn't remotely accurate. Gossip Cop can correct it.
The actress is spending the summer in Albuquerque to shoot the upcoming wilderness thriller, Those Who Wish Me Dead, and her children are living with her during filming. Woman's Day Australia is trying to sell the situation as "another bitter twist" in the actress's custody battle with Pitt, claiming the actor feels "blindsided" by the temporary move.
"He knew Angie had this project coming up, but thought she'd be coming back most weekends," a supposed source tells the outlet. "While she's not doing anything to stop Brad from seeing the kids, she'll only bring them back to LA on her own terms, which means Brad's once again doing all the running to get face time with them."
The alleged insider further contends that Pitt is upset about an all-male crew of bodyguards and assistants being hired to look after his children. "It's such a kick in the teeth for Brad," adds the questionable tipster. "These hired helpers get to see his kids way more than he does."
The unreliable tabloid is simply trying to stir up nonexistent drama. A source close to the situation tells Gossip Cop that visitation was worked out well before Jolie began production on her new film. Pitt is aware of his kids' whereabouts and the actress certainly didn't "flee" town with them, despite the magazine's ridiculous premise.
Gossip Cop also checked in with Pitt's rep, who wouldn't specifically comment on the actor's kids, but confirms that the tabloid's report isn't accurate. It's worth noting, "Entertainment Tonight" reported last month that there's currently "no drama" between Pitt and Jolie as they've been able to work out a custody schedule. The reputable celebrity news outlet noted, "The schedule has alleviated any of the planning pressures Brad and Angelina have faced in the past."
Unfortunately, we're not surprised by the magazine's phony report. Woman's Day has been known to make up stories related to the estranged spouses' custody arrangement. Back in December, Gossip Cop busted the publication for falsely claiming Jolie suffered a "dramatic meltdown" after Pitt was awarded joint physical and legal custody of their six kids. In reality, the actress had agreed to those terms.
Last August, Gossip Cop called out the tabloid for wrongly reporting that Pitt was angry about Jolie's bodyguard "playing dad" with their six kids. The outlet mentions a similar scenario in its latest article, but the actor simply doesn't have any issues with the people hired to keep his children safe. The magazine has zero insight into the custody arrangement between the exes.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
