Angelina Jolie is not letting her kids drink behind Brad Pitt's back, despite a completely false tabloid report attacking the actress's parenting skills. Gossip Cop can debunk the story. There's no truth to it.
An article in the latest issue of OK! features an alleged interview with one of Jolie's "former nannies," who gives an outrageous account of her supposed parenting style. "She's a mom who's very distracted by her personal problems and her work, which is a recipe for disaster," says the so-called "nanny," adding that the actress has trouble controlling her six children, Maddox, 17, Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 10.
The former "nanny" goes on to say that Jolie's kids "have no rules and absolutely run wild" because "Angelina thinks she's being a cool mom by treating them like adults. But at the end of the day, kids needs boundaries. She's doing more harm than good." The "nanny" further contends that after a long day, "Angie will knock back a bottle of wine, sometimes more. I've heard she lets the eldest ones have a taste every now and then."
The "nanny" then maintains that Pitt, who's been sober since late 2016, would be furious if he found out his estranged wife was allowing the kids to drink. "Angie's made such a big deal of his drinking during their custody battle," notes the alleged caregiver. "You'd better believe he wouldn't approve of this."
From there, the "nanny" says Jolie allows the kids to watch R-rated movies, despite Pitt being adamant about monitoring what they view. "I've heard Angie thinks nothing of leaving her kids home on their own while she sneaks out for sushi dates with friends," says a "separate source," who adds, "If I were Brad, I wouldn't be impressed with how she's raising those kids right now."
There are a lot of issues with the tabloid's bogus story, one of which being that it's based on an old and phony narrative. This storyline was first floated in October 2010 by OK!'s sister publication, In Touch. That cover story (see below) featured an alleged interview with Jolie's "nanny," who made many of the similar claims being recycled nearly a decade later.
The "nanny" told the tabloid in 2010 that Jolie allowed Maddox, who was eight-years-old at the time, to "drink wine." The portion about the kids watching "R-rated movies" was also included in that old report. These nearly decade-old allegations are being rehashed and reconfigured to apply to Jolie's parenting skills in the wake of her split.
It's also worth noting, the "nanny" alternates between using "Angelina" and "Angie" when referring to the actress. A nanny who supposedly worked for Jolie wouldn't call her two different names. She was either "Angelina" or "Angie" to the past employee. Another red flag is the "nanny" uses the term "I've heard" more than once. This means the purported "nanny" has no first-hand knowledge of several of the claims she's making, including the one about the kids drinking. It's hearsay, at best, and fabricated at worst.
In August 2017, OK! published another supposed "tell-all" with Jolie's former nanny, who insisted the actress was losing control of the kids as a single mom. Shortly after that, the tabloid published a questionable story about Jolie and Pitt's kids "going wild" following their parents split because the Oscar-winner "doesn't like to set rules."
This narrative has never been true, despite all the different ways the tabloids have attempted to sell it. An individual in Jolie's camp assures us all of these baseless articles about Jolie being an irresponsible mom are made-up and "not true." The actress's kids haven't been drinking and watching R-rated movies for nearly a decade, despite how many "former nannies" the magazine claims to have interviewed.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
